Anyone ever had one of these? Sounds mighty tasty (and filling.)

Sounds good but I could make four meals out of that plate. Let's see, $7.00 divided by four, wow, talk about cheap eats.

Gunder is a bit more out of the way than St. Olaf to the east a few miles. I was down there last fall eating that big as-a-pizza pork tenderloin at St. Olaf. Gee, I could have followed up and polished off a Gunder burger had I known.

Gunder is out of the way -- or in the middle of everything -- depending on if you are a glass-half-empty or a glass-half-full kind of person. But for a Road Food lover, there's so much in northeast Iowa that it's worth a trek. Ruby's in Decorah, maybe a half hour north of Gunder, has the state's best cinnamon roll and serves a fine plate of biscuits and gravy. St. Olaf is definitely a necessary stop for anyone who loves pork tenderloins. Postville has a pretty good Jewish deli (there are a surprising number of rabbi's in Postville who work at the kosher meatpacking plant). Any of these places is worth a stop.

What I see is, on Saturday it's Ruby's for breakfast, a Gunderburger for lunch, and a Pork tenderloin sandwich in St. Olaf for Dinner. Next morning, hit the Deli in Postville for a little brunch.

    Any arguments?

Been there done that as one would say. I may make a return to St. Olaf for a tenderloin again but my next sojourn into Iowa will be to Wellsburg. Then after that on our first trip west in the campervan we may hang around Hamlin, Dunlap and Atlantic in western Iowa to do some sampling. Of tenderloins that is.
