Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle newsletter Thu, 04/30/09 8:52 AM (permalink)

Listen, I am usually the first to mock, but after a couple of issues I have to say it's not too bad.  The last one was about easy tapas-type dishes to make for dinner, and the next one is about restaurants (admittedly, in NYC, LA, Chicago and London) that are both kid-friendly and give foodie adults plenty to smile about.

I know, I know.  It's good.

I took a quick look. No mention of what brand of cigarettes she prefers, and nothing about the fact that she's another too-skinny actress who could stand to eat a cheeseburger once in a while.

I'd much rather read Roadfooder's Trip Reports....

She was on Oprah awhile back & cooked some miso fish thing & said she would be coming out with a cookbook. I was still waiting on that when I heard about goop. Thanks for the link!

Her show on PBS she did with Maria Batale was pretty good.  She really showed that she has a good understanding of Spanish art and architecture.  Personally, I have always found her to be a classy woman.  Granted, I've never met her, but I'd sure like to.

I saw a different side of Gwyneth on Spain, on the Road Again.  She's real.

I received my 3rd Goop today or yesterday and it's an enjoyable read.

              I haven't unsubscribed.

              Yet.  ;)

It seemed a little ridiculous to me. First off, it's called Goop.

Second, it reminds me of high-end fashion magazines full of well-meaning advice that almost nobody can use. I've seen a page from a few months back that featured $1,000 jumpsuits (and not good looking ones, either. They looked rather like pajamas, except in jumpsuit form, and would look ridiculous on anyone who isn't 5'8" and 108 pounds). It seemed rather out of touch with reality, to me.

I took a look at that web site. It does not seem to be aimed at fans of Roadfood.

Also, no word on who works on it, besides herself. I think you know where I am going with this............

well--here is one guy that--when you get down to it--would rather  HAVE a grilled seafood dinner on the Spanish coast with Gweneth Paltrow then TALK about dinner with most of the guys around here--even though i AM one of those guys!

See, and I typically do not like Ms. Paltrow a whole lot--she's a great actress but truthfully Kathy Griffin's impression of her has overwritten most of what I know about her as a person--but I can't hate on a girl who likes bruschetta that much.  I'm definitely going to roast my tomatoes this summer and am looking forward to it.

As for her being a "too skinny" actress.  I read an article about how she refuses to diet that while basicaly a vegetarian she is also a big eater,  She keeps in shape with a tough exercize program.

Well, I've had an up and down kind of relationship with it over the last year but I wanted to ask if anybody's seen this week's edition yet--it's a list of ten food blogs she follows.  (We aren't on it.)

i liked her in the PBS roadtrip. I did not care for the Spanish actress in it. Not sure what about her bugged me..she seemed nice, knowledgea 'bout the culture, and  pretty enough, but i something just did not fit with her in the mix I liked the sparring between Bittman and Batale. I found Paltrow a nice counterpoint to the chefs.

No, it doesn't help. But thanks anyway.

She's another Hollywood phony.  I don't buy her "down to earth" act, considering that she was born and raised in a Hollywood atmosphere (Dad was Bruce Paltrow, mom was Blythe Danner).  I suppose that it's "earthy" that she named her daughter after fruit (Apple).

I still receive GOOP but admit that I don't read it in depth. If there's a recipe I take note of that.

Well, I've had an up and down kind of relationship with it over the last year but I wanted to ask if anybody's seen this week's edition yet--it's a list of ten food blogs she follows.  (We aren't on it.)

The cookbook I was loking for will be out next spring, it's called My Father's Daughter or something like that, and will have recipes from her dad as well as stuff she makes herself. Jeffrey Steingarten interviewed her for Vogue? about the book.

I like her too. A good actress, pretty good singer too! And yes i like Coldplay.
