I just bought what Consumer Guide inidicated was the best HDTV. It is a 42 inch plasma. Great reception and great HDTV channels but i screwed up and bought a surround system which was suppose to be easy to install. I am not a techno gentleman and I could not get it hooked up so I called my techno friends and neither could they. I guess I will just deump the surround but another difficulty is the HDTV has got a channel changer that stumps everybody except my 6 year old grandson who seems to understand all those things. I accidentaly push the wrong button and the TV goes off and I find it daggone impossible to get it fired off. Things are to quite around here any way. Without the TV, the only thing I got that makes noise is my dog.

My advice is do not buy high tech things in your older age.

    Paul,

Doesnt sound like you are hurting for cash, so go back to where you bought the stuff and see what the salesman would charge to come out and hook up/show you how to operate the stuff.I used to sell electronics, and made some decent extra money doing this for my customers. If the salesman, or the store where you bought these things doesnt offer such a service, you might consider shopping elsewhere.

Take a picture of behind the TV (closeup of the audio outs), and one of the Surround Amps inputs.. I'll draw you a picture then..

Can you use an Optical cable with your components? I have Sony stuff and it was simple...but Analog!

When I was eight I could've helped you out.

Suggestions: (1) use your Grandson as the remote, and (2) hire a fifth-grader to hook you up.

Lots of luck. You're more daring than I am. At this rate I'll buy one of those HD sets cheap the year before they make them obsolete.
