It seems the "luster" has worn off Hooters here in NY. Since the first of the year we have lost several locations. Clay NY (Syracuse burb), Buffalo, Rochester............. The Syracuse location at the mall is still operating. Any locations near you closed lately?????????...........geo

(PS I hope that wasn't too sexist. I meant it as a joke. seriously. my wife is from Syracuse.)

I went to Hooters when they opened here in Daytona Beach. Had a hot dog that was deep fried on the outside and partially frozen on the inside, have not been back since. That must have been at least 15-18 years ago. John

When I visited Binghamton in the fall, I heard that the one on the Vestal Parkway was closing. (I was pleased to hear it!)

In NC and SC they are opening everywhere. I used to take Japanese visitors to Hooters and tell the young ladies that it was something-san's birthday. The whole staff would sing "Happy Birthday" to the blessed soul.

Roadfood folks may not like Hooters but their chicken wings are super in my opinion. I always get theme with their medium sauce. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Anyone losing a local Hooters who loved their wings can make their own using the Hooters Wing Sauce, available in three levels of heat. I'm not sure the recipe turns out exactly the same as those prepared in the restaurants, but it is in the same general range. Just be sure the jar on the supermarket shelf is not beyond its expiration date; these sauces do not improve with age. I'm not surprised at the Hooters closings. In New York State, theme restaurants seem to have a definite life span. There is always a new restaurant with yet another "gimmick" opening up down the road.

I have been in a few Hooter's that had horrible food and service and a few with really good food and service. This is one of the least consistent chains I have seen. But then, how many people really go for the food?

I go to Hooters specifically for their wings. They are super and I get them fresh and hot with a medium sauce with some celery. That is all I ever got there with the exception of some beer. Eye candy wasn't bad. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I wonder if there is a corollary with the closings of these establishments relative to their latitudinal location. It will come off as stereotypical, but if the women are at least part of the reason for the draw, don't they become more attractive (in general) once you start getting into Florida, Georgia, etc? Some other posters remarked how well they were doing in Texas, South Carolina, etc.

Is Hooter's Airline still in business? They used to fly to Vegas out of a regional airport here. Never been to their restaurant.

kland01s- I'm not 100% sure, but I don't believe Hooter's Air is still in business. They used to fly between Pittsburgh and Myrtle Beach as their only flight out of here. The whole idea of Hooter's Air is rather comical to me.

Hello All, I've never been to a Hooters. Big breasted, scantily-clothed women scare me. But seriously, I've never been to a Hooters. I'd like to try their food, but we have none in my area. Because we have a few universities in Harrisonburg, Va., every time a restaurant closes a rumour rises that Hooters will come in and replace them. If their food is good, I hate to see any establishment close. Take Care, Fieldthistle

The trend I have seen in NC and SC is the closing of the first location but opening a place double the size just down the road. I used to joke that when applying for a job they would ask the lady her size and then issue the next size smaller. I would take my young daughters to the South Blvd location in Charlotte for the mild wings and curley fries. The entire staff would usually stop by to fawn over my two drop dead beautiful girls...they even have t-shirts that say "Future Hooters Girl". The articles in Playboy are good, the letters section of Penthouse was my college girlfriend's inspiration for some wonderful evenings and the wings at Hooters are in my top five. Hooters should add fried pickles to the menu. BTW their burgers are not good. The grouper sandwich is worth a try.

Just drove past the Hooters in Selma last night after getting off from my part time job at TJMAXX.I was 11:00 PM and there were still people there. That's Selma,Tx,which was listed as one of the top speed traps in the state. It may indeed the girls and their appearence.there are a lot of very pretty girls here in this state,so maybe that's the reason. After all,I think most of the clientel of the place are men.

The Kroger grocery I usually go to started carrying their brand of buffalo wings, as well as buffalo shrimp, sometime in 2003. Last time I went and looked in the frozen foods, it appeared that they stopped carrying it. (Way to go, Kroger!) Also, I remember watching the "Late Show with David Letterman" in January 1998, and Mr. Letterman took one of his guests to what looked like a new Hooters in New York City, and on the wall was a picture of then-President Bill Clinton. Of course, it was about this time Monica Lewinsky was about to become a household term. But I digress!

Is Erie, Pennsylvania, the site of another Hooters closing? In January 2000 I was checking out a website on the city, and there was a listing of at least one Hooters location. In March of this year I checked the Erie phone book in my motel room on a weekend getaway, and there were no locations listed.
