Ham Glaze

I'm seriously considering trying a cola ham glaze for our Easter Ham. Has anyone else tried it, and how was the outcome? I usually stick with my typical brown sugar and honey glaze...with a little mustard, but it's a bit played out as I did this on New Years Eve.

    The cola worked great for me. I have done it a few times with great results.

    Ha! I almost exclusivley glaze my hams with cola, but not this time. I'm trying a honey-brown sugar-marmalade glaze today, just to be different. But yes, cola works nicely. Mix some flat cola with some butter and glaze away. Makes an awesome "sauce" for the pig.

    Too late now, the Easter Dinner has already added 5# to your figure, but just in case you put it off til Monday-----I have used this a number of times and it is always great. About a 10ham in a pan fat down add a can of coke, cook at 350 for 2 i/2 hours--- baste once in a while. Then mix a cup of brown sugar, a cup of bread crumbs, 2 tea. of dry mustard and some fresh pepper---cover the ham with this mix and baste with coke, return to oven for 1/2 hour. Good stuff.

    i know it's after easter and you've probably already eaten your ham-- did you try the cola thing? i'd never thought to use coke as a cooking 'ingredient' however, my husband ( a hunter- sorry if that offends anyone) had a deer butchered and the shoulders smoked.. i had never cooked venison shoulder before and he said just add a little coke and some brown sugar.. it was the best tast i've ever had.. it ROCKED.... and it wasn't too sweet or anything. i guess that would work just as well on ham... hope you had a good easter - however you decided to cook that ham.... :)

    Heya, I did try the cola thing and it worked out very well. Clean-up was a drag but that's always the case. I used 12 oz of cola, with a tablespoon of spicy mustard and 1/4 cup brown sugar mixed in. Added this in the last 1/2 hour of cooking. Yummy! Gonna use the rest of the ham in a soup tonight.
