Every night I watch food network and a show, they had on the rolling grill Hot Dogs and Hamburgers shaped like Hot Dogs and they were real hamburger meat and served in a hot dog bun. Is there anyone out there that can elaborate on this unusual burger dog? Thanks in Advance Cowboy Bob 2

When I owned a 7-Eleven we carried them. Ours were from Oscar Meyer but I have seen them from many other vendors. They taste more like meatloaf than a burger. On a good roll with the right condiments they are ok. I liked them with very spicy chili.

I saw something like this either on Food TV NW or some magazine a long time ago. They served same on French rolls with the usual burger toppings. I do not see how they held together; but they did. Another neat thing I saw/read on same issue was to take seasoned ground sirloin, pat into "nuggets", prepared just like CFS, & deep fried. Good. An old friend of mine who was a mgr. of a Capt. D's did this all of the time with the stuff they prepared their "country-style" fish in. I guess I am going to have to invest in a new Fry Daddy, after all (from another thread ).

Another point on the beef grillers we sold. They could not be called Hamburgers because they did not contain enough fat under USDA rules.

I had the cheeseburg/dogs at 7/11 once. Intereting novelty.

Wow I inadvertnly taped the show, Here is the site www.burgerpipe.com The show was featuring foods from movie theaters and this was a spot that was featured a sign over the backdrop said EISENBERG american gourmet beef hot dog. Also on this show was a rolled up taco like something that was grilled also - el monterey tornado, sounds interesting, Iam somewhat of adventurest and would like to taste one of each. Oh the eisenberg co. also has a chicken thingamabob also. I'm going to look up burgerpipe and see what I get. Later Cowboy Bob 2

el montery tornados are great!!! they sold them at the Flying J truck stop here for a while and i grabbed one on impulse--not really expecting anything really edible--just filling--and was totally surprised--very tasty---grabbed one every time i filled my tank and then one day they were gone---the cashier told me she couldnt believe they stopped carrying them because they sold out instantly and could never keep them in stock---come to think of it that may be why they stopped carrying them---they may nit have enought production for an outfit as big as Flying J! In any case Tornades are the best quic stop instant snck food item i have seen in a long while and i now keep an eye out for them on the road.
