This is called a Gus Burger in Virginia, absolutely delicious. Plain and wonderful. Fatty (80%)hamburger cooked done toasted hamburger bun Lawry's seasoning salt 2 eggs pepper Toast the hamburger buns. Fry the hamburger, sprinkle with Lawrys. Place the cooked burger on the bun. Fry up 2 eggs, scramble, soft, however you like in the leftover burger fat. Place on top. Add extra salt, pepper. Enjoy.

We have something similar out here called a loco moco. 2 fried eggs on a burger, with rice and brown gravy over the whole thing. Makes a great breakfast.

Stanich's in Portland, Oregon does that ... I see as more of a gimmick, and their burgers are superb without the egg, so I've never tried it.

I don't have a name for it but a couple years back I did Chili on top of a bowl of white rice and slipped a fried egg on top and sprinkled tabasco on it. Don't eat it often, but when I do it sure is good. bbk

I call them Brazilian Burgers. I don't know why and at the moment, would not mind going to Brazil and discover whether this is true or not. KonaErnie is correct about Loco Moco. There was not much about 2008 to get excited about. I will call this the year of Loco Moco. I have tried to promote this for a while in different topics and threads. lite breakfast: The big Kahuna: I remember a burger stand in Waikiki that had a egg burger and Island Burger in NYC has one too. http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=4767 I think they are best with over easy eggs as the yolk adds to the richness. mark

I know I haven't tried it, but the idea of a fried egg on rice topped with gravy doesn't exactly do much for my appetite.

Would it be possible to get that battered and deep fried, preferably in lard?

Burger topped with an egg is great. Even better with an egg and chili (in St. Louis, that's called a slinger)

Kahuna, chili rice w/ an egg and hot sauce on top... sounds great to me! How bout rice, cheese, chili, pickled nacho sliced jalapenos, 80/20 chuck burger (cooked like you want, med rare for me), more cheese, more chili, more jalapenos, toped w/ an over easy egg or two. But... what could we call this? Joe

Actually, leave a hole in the burger center, drop the egg in the hole and fry. It's called a bulls eye. Very good.

Up until it was torn down due to a road relocation project about 1966, there was a wonderful little diner in the West End of Ithaca, NY called Obie's. Obies was famous for a "Bogburger" which consisted of a burger with fried onions topped by a fried egg and served on a bun. Cheese was optional IIRC. They were delicious! Wally Cornell '67

I've done something along this line with a hot dog. Fry an egg, fold it into a hot dog bun, sprinkle with onion & hot sauce, add a hot dog, give it a shot of yellow mustard and enjoy!

Papajoe8....don't have a name for the cjhili-rice-egg combo. Chili & Rice is big with locals in Hawaii. I added the egg as breakfast thing. I lilke your idea about jalapenos as well....
