One of my boy's was born July 4th, 1976. A real Bicenntenial baby. All I can remember about the event was the OB was really pissed. We lived in New Jersey at the time and he had paid $200 for seats for the Tall Ships Review scheduled for the Bicenntenial celebration in NYC, and Justin decided to be born at the Freehold Hosptial that day, causing the Doctor to miss the parade!

Our traditional 4th used to end by watching the Boston Pops on PBS. We can't find them on TV anymore. Holiday babies do upset the world. Our doctor had to leave his family Christmas to deliver one of mine. And try & have a birthday party around the holidays. We should have looked at the calendar 9 months prior .

One of my favorite Fourth of July traditions is watching the movie 1776. Unfortunately, it didn't come on until 10:00PM and since I had to work the next day, I fell asleep halfway through. Another first this year......I had to a funeral home viewing.

Not to hijack, but my friends birthday is Dec 26th.. She hates it. Never gets any birthday presents.. Its a Christmas and Birthday all rolled into one. She felt deprived as a child.. LOL

The Boston fireworks and a bit of the Pops is on CBS, now. This year I think they only did an hour, at 10:00 p.m. Of course, locally, we get the extended version with a lot more of the Pops. CBS took the show away from A&E, which did air a longer version nationally. I think it's been a while since PBS has had the 4th of July show. It's become so popular that the commercial nets do it nationally. A lot of PBS stations carry the "Capital Fourth" show from the Mall in DC.

We had the local PBS show the Boston show here on the 4th. Our fireworks in Grand Rapids didn't fire up till 10:30 (not sure why, they normally finish around that time... Only about a 30 minute show here).
