Happy National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day

I found it on the Internets, so I guess it's true. A Seinfeld episode also refers to pastrami as the "most sensual of all the cured meats." Who could argue?

wow that sandwich looks terrific ....................much like the ones that I get at Attman's in Baltimore. They are the perfect size for a nice sandwich and can eat the whole thing!

OK, I was kidding about the Ketchup... That is a mighty good looking Sandwich, and an exceptionally clear photo too! BTW- This Country Boy scored 5/5 on their Quiz. Not bad for someone who never watched a full episode of Seinfeld and who hasn't been in a NYC Deli since 1975 !

Al-The Mayor-Bowen Where's the Catsup??? I'll have you know....I have photographic proof of a tragedy at the same visit to Katz's. The photo is going to take some editing (cropping and zooming, to be specific), but I will try to get it up as soon as I can (yeah...like I haven't used THAT phrase before?).

Since you were at Katz's, did anyone else say, "I'll have what he's having"?

I need my rye with carraway seeds that I can see. By the way, I'd still eat it.

mar52 I need my rye with carraway seeds that I can see. By the way, I'd still eat it. I prefer rye with carraway seeds too, but it is not a deal-breaker. Some folks have issues with seeds. Heck, I probably eat more pastrami on a sub roll than anything else (hot pastrami with grilled onions and melted swiss). No mayo or ketchup, please.

Don, The next time that you're in LA we'll have to go to Johnny's Pastrami. Steamed then put in a French Roll, I have mine with yellow mustard and Swiss. Think I'll pick one up tonight! Maybe even take a picture or two.

Never mind what kind of bread is used in the top picture, if you open the link on the first post, the resulting pastrami sandwhich has YELLOW mustard on it. What's up with that?? Here it is again so you don't have to page up: http://www.yumsugar.com/944197

I have found that Hartford Reserve Pastrami from Great A&P, Super Fresh, Food Emporium and Waldbaum's supermarkets is a very lean and flavorful pastrami, at a reasonable price. So when you can't get to a deli, consider trying Hartford Reserve deli meats. I have tried a variety of them, and have not been disappointed.
