Hardee's Wed, 01/17/07 7:57 AM (permalink)
I'm from the south, and we love our bisquits down here...The thing I don't understand is that Hardee's has some of the best "cat heads" around. The parking lots are full for breakfast, but after 11:00am almost no one is their. Hardee's is closing stores all around the south. Why don't they give customers what they want? If I were running that company, I would sell breakfast items all day long, and watch what would happen...Standing room only! What do ya'll think?

Up until three or four years ago the local Hardees had a surprisingly good chili dog; it was about the only thing I would order. Do not know why they stopped selling it but I have not been back for lunch ever since.

Here in AZ they are called Carl's Jr. and do, from what I can tell, a very good business. Their advertizing is based mostly around Big, sloppy MAN burgers. Frakly, I don't even know if they offer breakfast here. Guess it's time for me to do some field research!

I agree Cfreeze, although I do enjoy an occasional hardees monster or angus burger

A "cat head" is just an old southern term for bisquits. You don't hear it used much anymore.

Hardee's hasn't been worth a toss for many years here in the Carolinas, B'fast is still ok unless there is a Bojangles within ten miles and then BoJo's is preferred.

We just had a Bojangles open up here (Huntsville, AL) a few weeks ago. I went by yesterday and ordered a steak biscuit and a butter biscuit. Both were good. I previously got my steak biscuits from Hardee's but the one close to be closed about a year ago. There is another one in town, but to far to drive to for breakfast.

I agree - Hardee's has probably the best fast food breakfasts around, and they are always busy for breakfast. But, after 10:30AM, you can see the tumbleweeds rolling through the lot.

As far as fast food places that have breakfast all the time, the only others that come to mind are Jack in the Box and Sonic, either of which you can get anything off the menu at any time.

There is a Hardees, Bojangles, and 7 other FFR within a mile of each other near me.
(Burger King, Arby's, Zaxby's, Taco Bell, Chick-Fil-A, KFC, Subway)
There might be a couple more that I can't picture.
Oh... Firehouse Subs, and Sonic are in the radius also.
The Hardee's and Bojangles are catty corner from each other.

The Hardee's restaurants around here used to sell some decent fried chicken, but since they took that off the menu they have relied on selling just bigger and bigger burgers... Just how much meat can you stick on a bun and sell it ?

The Hardee's restaurants by me still sell fried chicken and it's not bad, but I'd rather have Popeye's.

Hardee's self owned restaurants do not sell chicken but some franchise owners still do.

They do not in Knoxville. I wish they did as the only fast food place close to me is Hardee's

They really should do breakfast all day long. It would give them the edge over McD's, Wendy's, and BK.

The best breakfast ever is a Hardee's Latte (small decaf in a large cup with a carton of milk poured over it) and an egg & cheese biscuit. YUMMMM. Although I have been craving a sausage patty from them for some time.

Definately the best biscuits around particularly when they are hot and brown. They are to biscuits when they are hot like KK is to doughnuts when they are hot.

They closed ours. I knew it was coming when they started up with there $6 burger. The Monster burger was good. They just didn't have a entry sized burger (cheap) so our residents all went to the other places that had the dollar menu. You could see the tumbleweeds coming.

Around here Hardee's has 2 dbl cheeseburgers for $3 and usually a 99 cent ham and cheese. The place is packed for for breakfast but I don't believe you can get a biscuit after breakfast hours. I wish they would at least have the chicken filet and biscuit during all hours. Another thing they have here is hand dipped milkshakes which are pretty good.

I tried one of these "things" today. Way too much to handle when driving. Too "darn" much meat. Dry as a bone also without added condiments (mayo & mustard, etc.). It was hot & fresh, though.

I wonder, also, when the numbnut FF folks are going to realize that their breakfast sandwiches need more than just eggs, meat, & cheese.

Tomato slices, sauteed onions & bell peppers, abundant salsa (not in the plastic pacs), or similar is what is needed. I think many FFR's are afraid of offering such choices. Not everyone hates veggies.

Yeah, CKE has really failed to turn Hardees around significantly.

Will there even be a Hardees in ten years at this rate? I'm willing to bet that CKE is just wanting to kill off Hardees completly, then expand Carls Jr east and add the Hardees Breakfast Menus to Carls.

I think Hardee's is in even bigger trouble in the Midwest. More than half the restaurants we passed on this last road trip were closed and we had the misfortune of picking one in Hinckley, MN for our worst meal this trip. It was like hell's waiting room in there, and I would not have believed the decline in the food. A small hot ham and cheese really had neither on it, distinguishably. It looked like boiled Karl Buddig crapola, with some squeamish ivory colored 'stuff' placed off to the side, nearly off the bun. The burgers were grey. I really never stop there, but I will be negative-value likely to do so now.
