Has anyone here actually tried a Luther Burger?

Apparently according to urban legend, it was invented when a cook ran out of hamburger buns, and instead replaced them with two donuts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_Burger It's one of those strange things. I like hamburgers. I like cheese. I like bacon, and I really love Krispy Kremes. But all together? I'm not sure.

Completely! I like a thick burger as much as anyone. But that's just silly!

The Foodologist has a blogpost on his experience with the Luther Burger. http://www.foodologist.com/?p=34 His conclusion: "The Luther Burger - Making Fast Food Faster!"

This is something you gift to someone you hate. What do you get when you cross a VW Thing with a Mercury Comet? + A "VOMIT"

I've never had one of these but I've seen other pictures of them and I thought you were suppose to cut the donut in half, toast the inside on the grill, then use that toasted part for your outside part of the bun. Might seem a bit less messy that way.

Thinking - done well - no cheese, salty meat - could be ok. Kind of like a chocolate or caramel covered pretzel phenomenon. But the cheese has got to go. Maybe a sausage patty.
