Have You Voted For Your Favorite Restaurant?

MSN Hotmail has a poll for the next six days. For about fifty different cities, you can vote for your favorite restaurant. Some cities have more catagories than others.

I voted in about a dozen cities for my favorites.

Here is a link for NYC steakhouses. You can go to any other food or city from there.

Those nominees are a good source of restaurant suggestions! Not to stack the deck or anything, but if you go to Los Angeles nightspots, under "best martini" you can vote for Liquid Kitty. That's my ex-husband Dave's (of Lawndale fame in the now-defunct chain discussion) bar.

Disappointed that there is no voting for Washington DC or the District of Columbia. Guess that is supposed to be OK...people in DC are used to not being able to vote.

I noticed that there is no Dallas voting for restaurants. They have The Hamptons and Berkshires but not Dallas. That is curious.

Yeah, I've never understood the exclusion of DC in this feature, especially considering the size of the restaurant market and the number of people who live or visit here and, hence, would generate votes in this survey.

Also, the voting categories have also been pared down and made less interesting. In the past, there would be categories distinctive to a city (e.g., best cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, best deli in New York). Now they are all the same, unimaginative (group dining?) and fewer in number. The smaller cities even have what looks like a half-size portion of categories.

Lastly, unless I'm overlooking a write-in feature, you can only vote for restaurants that are listed, a troubling number of which are fast food types.

    Houston-Yes.

I voted for Brothers Pizza on Loop 6 out west near I-10. They have about the best pizza in Texas that I have had. Nothing in Austin comes close to them.
