Have you ever gone thru your life?

I am having the most interesting experience right now- Bob and I had to sell our home as the mortgage payments were getting way too high. No help here from the government! Anyway, I found a box, apparently when we had to go thru my parents home, with my whole life in it. Pictures I drew when, starting at 4, from school to Sunday school. Report cards when I was 6, and on, all sorts of things. I am laughing and both crying at the same time. The most interesting pics I drew were from 1964- Mom and Dad( in caricature, of course as my assessment was) with a martini glass-olive included and a cigarette. Have any of you seen your past that way?

I just filled up a photograph album for my mother's 84th birthday.  The photos were all in a box, not looked at for probably thirty years or so.

I hope that she likes it as much as I.

The rest of my life is stuck in the garage.

I'm sorry you're forced to move.

I have similar boxes. One of my own, and there's one for my wife - given to us by our parents shortly after we bought our house...I guess they didn't want to store it anymore.

    Brought back some memories.

Again, truly sorry to hear of your circumstances. I wish you the best of luck during your move. I hope it goes smooth - movin' ain't easy!

The move was okay, Scorereader. We did manage to find a nice 3 bedroom apt. in the same community, so life isnt so bad. But reorganizing after you have had a home in a smaller space is a challenge!! And finding a box like this has been fun.

I have a box like that but have not looked at it in years...........will have to dig it out.  I do  have a  memory box on my dressee  which has  a braid in it which was cut from my  head when I was 4 years old.  The grandchildren love that!

My mother had an old black suitcase - in it, were my two brothers' and my old report cards, family photographs, school pictures, even war rationing coupons which I'm thinking the WW II Museum would be interested in, though I would think they have enough.  My sister-in-law- wanted the suitcase, so she bought a plastic storage container and swapped it out.

I was given my "baby" box a few years back.  It included my baby book with all the important info, labels from baby foods (peas - Donald's first green vegy... first vegy barfed) was the note on the back and to this day I hate peas.

it also had hair and teeth in the envelopes addressed to the tooth fairy.

It had report cards and school pix from K-8

It is fun to go through a box like that.  My mom has a cedar chest that has all sorts of things like that in it.  I can't wait to go through it.

I have plastic totes full of 35mm slides in the Garage.
Kids growing up, vacations, sporting events, etc.
Have thought about putting them on CD's but the cost is out of reach.

You can buy your own machine to transfer slides and do it yourself.  This way you can toss all slides that don't have people in them or all slides that do.  It's your choice!

I have several large cartons of slide carousels in my garage storage area.  Maybe some day I'll take my own advise.

We got a quilt made by my daughter-in-law for our 40th anniversary.  She got all kinds of pics from my son- me, my husband & I, my parents, his parents, all 4 children & 7 grandchildren.  She was able to copy pics to a kind of cloth & then made a quilt.  Our wedding picture is in the middle, our parents are on either side & children & grandchildren are all arranged around sides.  It is the best gift ever.  I have it hanging on the wall going up the steps to the 2nd floor.
    A wonderful gift!!!
