Help I've moved to the nw burbs! Sun, 12/12/04 4:27 PM (permalink)
I recently moved from Evanston to 83 and touhy and quickly found that the only good resturant is Cuisine of India. Well they are very but good woman can't live on indian food alone. Anybody got any suggestions in the lower price ranges for any kind of food? I'd love to find a decent hot dog stand and a good pizza place but anything thats not dennys would be great. Des plaines mount prospect elk grove village any area thats sorta close would be good.

Help I've been spoiled by living next to the city!

I believe the area being referred to is Chicago and its Northwest suburban areas out past O'Hare Airport.

I'll try to think of some good places out there, but my memory is rusty for the moment.

Off the top of my head I can recommend Paradise Pup on River Road in Des Plaines between Oakton and Touhy. Good burgers with Merkts cheddar cheese spread, 3-way fries (cheese, sour cream and bacon), great shakes (banana chocolate, oreo, raspberry, & pumpkin in the fall). I like the grilled chicken too. Nice guys. 2 brothers and a cousin I think.

Also, there is a Johnnies on Arlington Heights Rd that has good Italian beefs, sausage and the best Italian ice around. I still kinda like the old Elmwood Park store on North Ave though. Just 2 to get you started.

Gene & Judes is the place for a great little natural casing hot dog. Take Touhy east to River Road south. The way to find restaurants in your area :www.northshoremag.com
          go to Restaurant Guide
          go to NW Suburbs
          pick a Price
