Help! Need some website code done... Mon, 01/31/11 5:53 AM (permalink)
Hi, do you folks know of someone to help with some website code to finish our website? The ones I've contacted seem to think we are some rich corporation and want to charge thousands for a couple hours work!
We just need a couple things, some different drop-down selection boxes, and a shipping calculator for our chocolate products. My lovely wife is pretty good at doing all the design work for our catering side of the website, so we're just looking for some 'piece work' so we can get geared up for tourist season, instead of spending time making web pages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers, Dave

    Hello
Try www.elance.com you bid out your job.  It is like an auction for all types of computer services.  We have had good luck for our online business and the rates charged are quite affordable

If you did the current site yourself, my guess is you have the skills to learn how do something more ambitious yourself. Software keeps getting better and better.

Meanwhile, resist the temptation to go overboard.  You site seems fine the way it is.

BTW: I have also heard good things about the online bidding process.

But in the end, I'm betting you'll find keeping control and the ability to make quick changes to yourself will outweigh the benefits of getting too fancy.

Hi, my wife and her cousin did most of the site, but the problem is trying to get a shipping calculator that integrates into our shopping cart. Everyone has this feature, but ours just doesn't want to calculate shipping charges correctly!
We like our cart too, just need it to work so we can take orders. I'll try this bid place - thanx!

I'll bet there is a service online where you can simply plug in a link.

I noticed on your website page with the pictures and descriptions of the chocolates that in the description of the Coconut Mint Meltaway you misspelled coconut. (You left out the second "o".)  I thought you probably would want to correct this,  (I proofread everything I read without even wanting to.)

We found a guy on elance.com who is working on our stuff. Hopefully he has a quick solution so we can start selling our stuff correctly.
              thanx for the help!

I know my Valentine reads Roadfood....saying "she is not that crazy...she is not that crazy". Those Hawaiian Cocktail Truffles....wow they look good. We shall see  how that works out for me.

No seriously.... you should be able to pull the codes off the web for free. Looks like you got it handled though...  Lemme know if you need any HTML codes...

                          Hi,

First off your site looks really great! I am the creator of a turn-key restaurant website builder and our online ordering piece is going to be available February 21st, 2011. The basic site builder has been ready for a bit already and is available now.  I advertise here using the ads at Road Foods via adwords so I won't post my link here, I know you guys/gals frown upon that!

If you're interested shoot me a PM.  Our service includes the site, the hosting (in a kick butt data center!) and a freindly easy to use control panel for making changes.  A basic site is $19 a month; the online ordering site is more (we are still getting the exact pricing down for that).  THE ONLY CATCH is that the site would not look like what you have now, but would still look good. We support domain names (as a matter of fact we don't allow sites without a domain name).  You point your domain to us. We don't get involved with the domain other than giving you detailed directions on how to point it to us. This gives you the extra freedom in the long run to do whatever you want in the future...

                          Thanks much,
                          Jon

ps: Admins - please let me know if my message was repectfully within your guidelines.

Hi, yes we do contract work!
In fact, I'm trying to talk 'Full Freezer' into ordering my chocolates for his Denali Tour business!  ;)

Seriously, we do - we were just contacted by Pogo Mines - a large gold mining operation - to make custom chocolates for their camp Valentine's Dinner. We also make custom 'printed' chocolates for a number of clients, and we are working on a dog-sled themed chocolate mold for one of the Iditerod and Yukon Quest teams. We also will come up with some dumb-ass tourist product, like a Moose Chocolate or Polar Bear...everyone has one, except us. Since our mobile kitchen is going to be making chocolate-themed products, we need an 'Alaskan' type product for the various fairs, shows and so on....

We can make edible chocolate food trucks too!

By the way, we found a guy on Elance.com who completely rocks!! He is designing some special features for us, which will allow easy product integration into our database as well as shopping cart - and we don't need to change either the look or the design of the site - I'm very happy!

The Hawaiian Cocktails are great. We just came up with a new recipe the other night, it's a coconut creme filling in a dark chocolate shell that has been airbrushed with colored cocoa butter. here's a photo:

It says strawberry, but that was before the new recipe! Anyway, it tastes great....

LOL so much for the picture....I haven't been on here long enough to post a link I guess....

Thanx for the compliments! I threw in a small sample pack so you could get an idea of our other stuff besides V-Day goodies. Be sure and let me know what you think - we like feedback!
