Help with concession trailer build out

I am currently converting an older concession trailer into a kitchen on wheels for our church disaster relief program and I could use any pointers. I have purchased the majority of the necessary equipment. I currently have a Vulcan gas oven, a 6 burner gas grill, a Marey on demand under counter propane water heater, and will be getting a gas deep fry as well. I have acquired oven and grill from a local school auction, unfortunately they are both set up for use with Natural gas. 1st ?: Anyone out there know how to convert them over to propane? I have model numbers if that helps. 2nd ?: The trailer has no current gas supply what so ever. I have two sizable propane tanks that I believe should supply my needs. How do I go from the tanks to my 4 appliances and be up to code? What size of piping do I need? Thanks for any help that you share have a wondeful day!

Contact the Manufacturer for the conversion kits to get them converted to propane. What size tanks do you have I would think you need a 100lb propane tank. If I was you I would pay a plumber to do this. Very dangerous if your not use to plumbing gas

Better check the weight capacity of the trailer. With the equipment your have already listed there may be a problem. Maybe not though. You also, need to balance equipment weight fore and aft of the trailer wheels (about 60% fore & 40% aft) so it will pull easy.

I recommend you contact major concession trailer manufacturer's and write them about what you are doing. Since it is for a church and disaster relief, they maybe more than willing to give you information and help with the design. This is building a kitchen on wheels, which takes all types of skills to work up a functional safe kitchen that can safely take travel and still keep it under weight. Though people have built units for selling, your project is going to be more critical, you need a good functional unit that will operate when needed in a time of emergency. For folks building a unit for selling, if things fail, they go home a correct it. For your unit, when things fail its going to be in the middle of everything else that has failed and people will need food and water. I would even contact Red Cross and Salvation Army since they deal with emergency relief. Between mgf and emergency agencies you should come up with an excellent unit. Get as much professional help as you can, the electrical and gas is critical and weight distribution will stop the trailer before you try to move it. RJF

I did my own gas pipe plumbing after I read our HD code. It said that all of the inside had to be pipe and the outside could be hose. So that's how I built mine. Our code required an automatic gas shut off as part of the Ansul System, but some areas don't require that system, so that may or may no apply. But if it is part of your code they are very expensive, unless you can get one on EBay. Just go to any propane gas supply company and they usually can supply the right size hose, connections and convert your equipment over to propane from natural gass. You can do this just read the code and follow it to the letter. Good luck Jack@DrofBBQ.com
