Help with some St. Louis BBQ places.

My best friend and brother are going to St. Louis in August and was wondering if and where some good BBQ joints were. They are also heading down to Memphis afterwards, but Memphis was pretty easy to recommend some places. I checked the restaurant section for St. Louis and only found one mention of BBQ. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks.

Pappy's Smokehouse, which was mentioned but not discussed in the other thread, makes superb ribs--best I've ever had in St. Louis, which is more of a pork-steaks--in-the-backyard kind of town than, say KC, which has a tradition of great BBQ joints. Please check out Pappy's but don't go too late because they sometimes run out of things.

I'd just drive to KC, great Italian food on the Hill though.

Another vote for Pappy's. Currently the best in St. Louis, IMO. 17th Street Bar and Grill in OFallon, Illinois is just a short drive across the river, as well.

Pappy's is by far the best. I also hear that Richard's Ribs is good as well as 17th Street.

M&M Barbecue in Florissant is my pick for rib tips. Geat mellow sauce along the lines of Maul's and with just the right amount of crunchy bark. Try it. bkk
