Here SHE IS... "The Lunch Box LLC"... Just picked up my new foodie trailer!

Some pics to start... The new tow vehicle... Long story, but this was not in the plans... The "Little Sizzler".... How would you like this parked in front of your business? And she is PAID FOR! What do you all think? I need to role this by the outfit I want to park in front of after I get the signage installed. The plan is to do daily specials and keep the menu short and sweet. All and any input is appreciated. Mike

If you were talking to me about a space on my property and rolled up with that rig I would be impressed.

Ice Cream Man If you were talking to me about a space on my property and rolled up with that rig I would be impressed. That is my hope, sell the sizzle and myself. I have several places that are interested, and I have left it at that. I want to get the signage on, the sign man is coming tomorrow, and then role up into their parking lots to let them see what I am proposing. I have already secured the insurance policy, 1 mill liability and 2 mill ag along with insuring the trailer against fire and theft. So hopefully that will lay any fears to rest that I would hurt their business or be a liability to them instead of an asset. I just need to work on the SOP for the HD and get my inspection. I figure that will take around 4 to 6 weeks and give me plenty of time to see what is doable in this little wagon and to get my act together. And what do you all think of wearing a chefs jacket/shirt? I personally like the idea, give the joint a little flair! And it sends the message that this is a professional operation and I mean business. I always liked wearing a uniform, as I believe it sends the right message to the customer. Mike

I like the Chefs jacket. Just one thing, remember it's going to be hot, you have to be comfortable or life can be miserable. There is a common thread here about vendors being dirty and not washing their hands. It seems funny we would slam our own profession in an open forum but once you start you realise how poor HD inspections are and how easy it would be for a vendor to poison you. Most vendors won't eat at another vendor's unless the vendor looks clean, some of the public are that smart too. I see unkempt beards, long hair, inappropriate clothing and I walk away. You only get one chance to make a first impression. I have no idea what you look like, make sure when you go to the site you look as good and clean as your rig. 4 to 6 week wait would drive me crazy but you sound like you are going to use it wisely. To many open to soon and struggle with their menu and cooking techniques.

To many open to soon and struggle with their menu and cooking techniques. Thanks for the advice and words of wisdom. In regards to the chefs jacket, looking at something that will breath, no polyester... And yes, the grooming, I could not agree with you more. Myself, I sport a flat top Marine style, sides to the skin and no facial hair, the remnants of my days as a Navy Corpsman under Reagan. And the cleanliness, oh I cringe at what I have seen over the years not just in restaurants, but many other areas of the food industry, starting right in the fields where the produce is picked. Nothing turns me off more than a guy or gal covered in tattoos, piercings and the like along with the unkempt facial hair and or long hair on the men, along with dirty clothing and ratty shoes. We sound like we have a bit in common. As you said, first impressions are VERY important, they can easily make or break guys like us. Mike

If you wear Dickie's shorts what does Dicky wear? I know it was funnier when it was still in my head.

dtortor1 Wow! I came to this thread because the lunch box was the name i almost went with... Looks like you are doing a great job! Dom Hey, you can still use it! There are around 26 Lunch Boxes in MI, it just depends on how you do it. I went with "The Lunch Box LLC" and it cleared the state no problem. I tinkered around with the name on the internet and wound up with "thelunchboxonline.com" with no issues, along with Twitter and Facebook. I hired a marketing guy to handle all of this stuff and so far so good, although, I am doing all of the work. No money has changed hands, as he sees the potential, he is milking me for later. ;) Mike

That trailer must have been built by either of the 2 builders in Manchester or East Hartford, CT. They are well built trailers for sure. Very sturdy but not cheap for the size. Those guys also make an awesome hotdog cart.
