Here they are! Let me introduce you to our new fresh baked rolls. Sun, 06/14/09 12:12 PM (permalink)
Hello all,

as some of you know that have followed my progress and post, I have been working on getting fresh baked "1 off" (as in made specific for me) rolls for my dawgs and sausage, etc. After a few test samples and tweaks over the last month I am pleased to say the new rolls are finished and will be added to my cart starting next week. The ones pictured below are for the dawgs, the sausage rolls are wider but not pictured. The rolls are split top rather than on the side. (That's how I wanted them.)

I am very happy to have stuck with this idea and more happy to see it in it's completed stage. I just finished sampling the final batch and they taste SUPER and remind you of a Croissant roll but not as layered and without the flakiness that you get from a Croissant. Did some freezer test as well and when thawed they looked, tasted and felt no different than the unfrozen ones. I am still experimenting with putting the topping on top of the dawg like pictured or on the side (against the bun) but I will have that worked out by today as it is test the new bun day lol. I am trying both ways to get the best eye candy effect. Either will work the test are showing. FYI didnt let them put the poppy seeds on them, I like that look but I don't want the false positive drug test that can go with the poppy seeds, many army folk in the area.

Please help celebrate with me this small accomplishment that I hope will further set my product, company and offerings apart and above the comp here in Maryland. Sometimes news aint always good or is down right bad at work or in life, we gotta take the time to enjoy the good news when it comes around.

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.
Bell well,

Bags of joy lol.

That's a great looking set up. I like the idea of a split top bun vs a split side. I guess they call them a New England style bun?
Not sure how they would work in the DFW area but I think it's something that would set us apart as well. The question is.... will it set us apart and grow business or detract? Decisions, decisions.
Keep us posted on the reception of the new bun.

Is that that squeeze cheese stuff on your dog? I thought about trying that but wasn't sure how it would work on a dog, and I keep forgetting to buy some at the store to try.

Seems like it would be way easier to deal with than cheese sauce or shredded cheese.

This kind of squeeze cheese, that is:

                Yummy looking dog either way.

Hey Dawg, Nice buns. I like that they open on top and it will be great for a Chili dog. You have fresh buns, quality dogs the best condiments. Lets not screw it up with cheese in a can. Just think of going to a friends house and they hand you a plate of crackers and a can of cheese. That would show you exactly what they thought of you. I also don't understand why people use shredded cheese unless they could melt it on the dog. .......................Bill

NO, NO, NO, NO!!! LOL Real quick than I gotta run. You do not see cheese in the dawg picture, that is mustard. I do offer cheese and it is in a can BUT NOT a spray can. It is in the huge can pictured below. It taste super.

Everyone, thanks for your feedback, I gotta get to work so I will reply to any post I missed when I get off later today. First day with the new buns so I am nervous........ Oh hey chewingthefat (sp) I am on the Maryland Deleware boarder in Harford County, my bakery is in DE and is a small family bakery that no longer sells to the public. They have 1 major contract for a privet school so that is all they do, just a husband, wife and daughter. I was able to get them to do my buns because I did work for them when I was a partner in a landscape company a few years ago. They always asked if I ever needed anything to drop by. I forgot about them but stopped past when in the area and they both gave me a big hug as soon as they saw me. The rest is history.

                    Gotta go..

Those look great. I got to find a deal like that here in the Bay Area. .20 a bun is a great price. I pay .29 for store bought buns at Cash & Carry. They are nice and steam well but i would like the fresh baked.

Billy B, the shredded usually melts when you add it to the hot chilli. If not I can wrap it in the foil and put it back in the steamer for a few seconds. I would use the liquid cheese but it will take up one of my condiment pans. If I serve nachos in the future then I might switch to the liquid. I will see what the customers prefer.

Hey Quick, your right on the shredded cheese on Chili. They also have a fine shred that may even work better and melt faster. When you have time show us a pic of your chili dog. I think your on te right track with everything your doing. Good luck and great job................Bill
