Here's several final photos before I close the book on this trip report -

Blue Jay OH...

Harrison OH...

New Trenton IN...

A number of these signs recently popped up along US 52 in Franklin County IN...

Waiting for the carhop to bring out my Charco-burger basket at Dog n Suds in Lafayette IN...

And the final photo: a roadside cafe in Kentland IN that calls itself as a "truck stop"...

I managed to get home before dark and, as I always do at the end of a roadtrip, collapsed face-first on the bed where I would do my Rip Van Winkle impression for the next several days. As the pig says at the end of the cartoon, "that's all, folks!"

Blue Jay OH...

Do you have any details about this "inn"?  Looks kind of interesting from this angle.

Even though southern Wisconsin and southern Ohio are less than 500 miles apart the differences in settlement period architecture never fail to get my attention when I visit the area.

Brad, here's a couple of photos of the Dew Drop Inn that I took on the morning of day #2 ( eastbound on "old" 52. ) You can probably tell from the rather ancient-looking sign that this place has been in business for a long time. As far as I know, it's just a roadside tavern that also serves lunch of some kind. I've never thought about stopping there to check out the grub, but your question has triggered my curiosity and I'll have to see what I can find out about the joint.

I just did a Google search on the Dew Drop Inn and I found quite a bit about it online. Their website is currently under construction, but I did find out that the place has been around since 1946, is closed on Sunday, and considers itself "just a friendly neighborhood bar " with occasional live music. I couldn't find out too much about the menu, other than that they do have wings, appetizers and pizza. Maybe I'll stop in and check it out one of these days.

Kind of a redneck-lookin' joint...

Naturally it's closed on Sunday.  When I visit Ohio in August that's the day I head home, and the only day I'm likely to be in that part of the state!

In the original photo the sign out front said open Sunday's. Unless that sign was pointing at another business.

The sign does say that it's open on Sunday, but the information that I found online contradicts that. Maybe the info on the sign is more up to date, I just don't know.

Glad to have you "traveling" with me, Joe; any chance that you could kick in a few bucks towards gas?  Late last month I made two four day-long roadtrips back to back ( western Kentucky and Pittsburgh ) and as soon as I've had time to recuperate, I'll start on a trip report covering the two. As you might imagine, a sizable number of Roadfood-reviewed and deserve-to-be-reviewed restaurants were visited during those eight days, so expect lots of food pictures along with some great scenery.

Thanks to this TR, Carolina Bob, I'm going to take my 9 year old son through Chattanooga on our way to Atlanta at the end of the month.  We want to ride that incline and see the infamous choo-choo.

Next time you're down in southern WV, I hope you can look me up.  I don't know where else to suggest here roadfoodish, but there's always the Omelet Spot.

Jim, I hope that you and your son enjoy the incline as much as I always do; I've ridden it at least three times over the years and still get a bang out of it. I'll be passing through southern WV on the way to NC again sometime in September and maybe we can break bread together if you're interested. Unless I'm too late getting into Bluefield, which is what happened back in May, my dinner in the area is always at the K&W in Mercer Mall ( I love that chain. ) Let me know if you want to meet up there, and if so, I'll let you know when I get my travel schedule firmed up. Right now it all depends on when and where this year's Roadfood bus tour is going to be.

Here's my son at the top of Lookout Mountain after our ride up the incline.  Very cool ride... and I wasn't at all afraid as I don't like heights (but I love to fly, go figure).  I made sure I didn't get any pics of me today, as it was 96 and humid.  By the time we finished hiking up to that park and did the walk around the point, my t-shirt was one big saturated mess.
