I'll take mine with the provolone, and leave the slaw for someone else.

Welcome, mychickenlivers, I wish you success in your biz. If I were you I absolutely would offer provalone as an option, I believe more people outside of Philly prefer it, and many in Philly do too.

By the way mychickenlivers, if you're going to offer it with roast pork, why not add some broccoli rabe to go with that pork. I'll be there right away.

MCL, I agree on the Provolone, not everyone would like Cheese Whiz, in fact if thats all you served I wouldn't even buy one. I agree with Michael on the Rabe, and I never agree with Michael............Nice to see a Virgin in the Forum...........

I gotta argue with youse guys on the provolone.  Unless you are talking about using aged, sharp provolone?  That white, semi-soft deli style stuff does nothing for me.  It's almost totally tasteless.  I would take American or cheese whiz over deli provolone anytime.

Cole Slaw on a cheesteak? This is heresy.

I agree about the provolone. Use only the aged sharp provolone instead of the soft deli kind.

How about adding some fried  green peppers to the sandwich as an option and having a jar of hot cherry peppers available for those who desire a kick to their sandwich?

Joe knows cheese! Most provolone is little different from the paper they use to separate the slices.

Well, except for the Cheese Whiz stuff. I'd skip the cheese altogether rather than had to dea with Cheese Whiz.

Hmmm 19 responses to the original..and no follow-up by him??? Must be very busy selling Cheese-Steaks !
I'm with Michael on the cheese.  I'll go with red-sauce (an Italian Beef Sandwich) before I will touch anything with Cheese Whiz  on it. If a choice is made, give me Provolone on the sandwich to glue the other items inside the roll!

I have to respect the locals who love taking theirs with a wizz.

I, on my occasional opportunities to have one in Philly, always hearmyself saying Provolone (wit) ...

Now, as O'Reilly would say, I could be wrong, BUT...regarding this thread, something's nagging at me that our livers may have been had.

Couldn't agree more with the first statement, in fact when I had a steak and cheese with Wizz on it it tasted like it had wizz on it.
