Hey, It's Dave's Day August 1!

http://www.davesday2010.com/

I plan to be there for my free meal if the spoil sports don't declare it illegal like they did in Minnesota for Ladies Night.

My recently retired brother (David) has mentioned that he will visit his local 'Famous Dave's' for the first time to accept his 'award'.

Since I believe that's the purpose of the promotion, I'd say it is a success, at least in this example !

At least you get something you can use-
On "Dale Day" I get something I don't even want and they come in a pair!

As a Dave myself, I think this is a fantastic idea.  Every restaurant should have a Dave Day.

Too bad for me there isn't a Famous Dave's here in AK as far as I know.
    Nope, I just checked.

A free meal is not enough incentive to cause me to even think about entering a Famous Daves!

For the record, the day has come and gone. I think this was the second year they done this so I suspect maybe again next year. We walked 8.7 miles earlier in the day to be able to afford the calories to eat these meals. Famous Dave's is a chain but the food wasn't that bad.

      And, so?
Was it delicious?  I worked at the Calhoun square Dave's for about a year in the late 90's... SO many people told me that it wasn't "real" BBQ;  but rather MINNESOTA bbq.    I told them that they were at a chain bbq restaurant in Minnesota... But if they wanted "real" BBQ they should tip me really well and I would disclose my MUST EAT bbq place in the cities....You would be amazed at how well this worked!

ps.  Shhhh!  (it's Ted Cooks 19th hole!)  Get the HOT sauce....it's even good with wheat thins! " />

      No, no they don't.
However i have heard that the owner went to the EELPOUT festival last winter, and has determined that this would be a MUCH more regionally appropriate fish to smoke.

Tasted fine by me. The brisket was every bit as good as I had at Jack Stacks in KC and the ribs were perfect in pulling off the bone. I didn't have to or desire to doctor them with any of the numerous sauces they lined up on the table. I think because Famous Dave's is a chain and did not originate in North Carolina, Memphis, Kansas City or Austin, TX that people just put it in their minds it is not real BBQ. The Minnetonka Famous Daves we went to was designed as a classic northwoods road house and is probably better than most of their locations since it is in the city of their headquarters. We ate out on the patio. The view of Highway 7 cars and trucks was not as nice as the lake side view in Hayward, WI.

I agree with you Davy. while I wouldn't drive a long way out of my way to get FD's BBQ, when we are in the area of the store on this side of Louisville I will stop, especially to pick up a couple of lbs of Rib Tips and now and then some Ribs...but the tips are better than the ribs in my opinion. Jan loves the Corn Muffins as a dessert (very sweet). We keep a bag full of the assorted sauce-flavors in the truck in case a burger or something else needs a flavor boost.
