This is a great site and I look forward to learning everything I can regarding the mobile food business. I work full time for a big corporation but I have an entreprenurial side that has always been looking for something to do in my spare time to earn extra money. Last year I ate a Chicago Style hotdog, first time ever, and I was hooked. That was the best hotdog I ever ate in my life. I took my family and friends down there to eat one and they all loved them. That hotdog got me thinking. As a member of Lions Club, we cook hamburgers at the local county fair and sell around 1500 each year. It's one weekend a year we cook to raise scholarship money. They go quickly even at $5.00/burger. I think a man could sell a lot of Chicago's at similiar events around here along with whatever other "style' customers want. Keep it simple at first. Test the waters. I don't want to do this full time, just work an event or two each month to put money in savings for my kids college. My question is- How many of you guys do this on the side? Do you find it worth your time? Running the numbers I think it would be very doable on a part time basis. ++++ I think this would be a fun business to run becuase I like talking to folks and making people happy. I am still putting together a business plan to define my local costs. Anyway- Great site and I appreciate everyone's insight. Thanks -ArnieTX

Welcome aboard ArnieTX. Don't know how many replies you'll get on this, but try posting your topic in the restaurant professionals forum here.I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses and advice. Now my sister has a side business. She works for Court Tv and sells things on ebay.Mainly like costume jewelery,Hot Wheel cars, etc. Things that are small and ship easily. She has attended several seminars put on by ebay ,etc.Eventually she'd like to open an ebay store if things really take off. I think you could do this once a month.Maybe you could be a vendor at some county fair or festival around here.Try it a couple of times and see how it goes.Good Luck.
