Several local cheeseburger experts met recently to settle, once and for all, the best local burger joint.

Nominees included Sonny's, Dad's Place, and Poolroom.

My wife, as a cheeseburger agnostic, served as the mistress of ceremonies. She took each burger, quartered it, and put it on a plate labeled "1", "2", or "3". Each "judge" was given one of each and asked to score it on the standard 1-10 scale.

Sonny's won hands down.
Dad's Place was second.
Poolroom was third.

So, if you're ever in the Hickory area and want to try the current title-holder, make your way to the end of Springs Road, across from Shuford Mills.
