EATING AND HIKING Friday night my Wife and I had tickets to see the Goo Goo Dolls in downtown Phoenix at the Dodge Theater. She requested a meal at
Pizzaria Bianco’s, and against my better judgement, I agreed.
Now don’t get me wrong, Pizzaria Bianco’s has excellent Pizza, I am just not into a 2 hour wait for dinner. We got there at 5 o’clock but didn’t get seated until well after 7. Luckily, the Dolls had two warm up bands so we figured they would not start playing until around 9. (We were right.)
I had the Wiseguy pizza, which is Fennel Sausage, Carmalized Onions and Smoked Mozzarella. A very delicious pie, to be sure.
My wife, being a vegetarian, opted for the Biancoverde, a white pizza finished with Arugula. She ordered some Balsamic Vinegar on the side and added that to the pizza on occasion.

Some claim that PB is the best pizza in Phoenix…I like it a lot, but I also think that the pizza just might taste a little better cause you are waiting so long before you get it!
They do make it comfortable while waiting, the house next door has been converted into a bar with a nice selection of wines, beer and appetizers are available. For my time and money, I would rather head into old town Scottsdale for a an equally good pizza pie at Grazie.

http://feastinginphoenix.com/?p=169 The concert was enjoyable, the Dodge Theater is a great place to see a show. We got home about midnight, and after some sleep, got back up at 4:30 and headed up to Sedona for some hiking.
Our first hike was just ouside Sedona at the end of a five mile dirt road.
The 3.4 mile round trip hike took us back to a natural bridge called Vultee Arch. There was some dramatic scenery along the way and a great payoff at the arch.
See the lizard enjoying the view in the lower right on the rock?
After the hike, we stopped off in Oak Creek to browse a bit...
Since it was still early when we finished the hike, we decided to do another one along Wet Beaver Creek. The hike was a total of six miles, and took us through some beautiful riparian growth.
We dipped our hot feet into the crystal clear water and relaxed for a time before heading back out.
Lunch along the way...
Our reward after the 6 mile march.
The drive back home was less than two hours. We relaxed a bit then got cleaned up and headed out for dinner, meeting some friends at a place in Scottsdale called
Thaifoon. We have eaten here several times and have always had very good, consistant food.
http://www.thaifoon.com/menu.html We started at the bar with a glass of wine and a couple appetizers –
Edamame, and something called
Beggars Purses, which were described as shrimp and Pork dumplings served with a coconut curry sauce. Very, Very good.
Once everyone got there and we got to the table, we ordered four entrees:
Lemon Grass Crusted Mahi Mahi Seafood Hot Pot (Mixed seafood in a Green curry Asian Bouillabaisse)
Mango Chicken Evil Jungle Princess Beef (Spicy Peanut Red Curry with Filet Mignon, veggies and fresh mint-thai basil) My favorite.
This place belong to a corporation that owns several other restaurants, but I have to say I’ve never had a bad meal of service while there.
It was a nice way to end a long day, needless to say we slept well that night!
