I don't know if posting this will do any good, but thought someone with some power might be able to stop the destruction of one of the last orange topped Howard Johnsons. Can't that be considered a landmark? I was born in Spfld and visited my mother last weekend who told me that it's supposed to come down May 15. I don't know any powers that be and doubt anyone in Springfield takes up these causes. Makes me sad to see those last few orange roofs disappear but what can one do?

Well, you could buy the building and then not demolish it. I can't think of any place in this great land where a Howard Johnsons should be considered a national landmark. Where were people like you when they tore down Ebbet's Field?

I don't know Ebbet's Field, I just thought that the unique HoJo's orange-roofed building built however many years ago might qualify for some sort of status. Maybe landmark is the wrong term, just sad to see more unique Americana down the tubes.
