I'm curious about salt potatos. Saw them at our Wegmans last week. Can you enlighten me?

BTW, I love the Hoffman Coneys, best available here in Virginia.

Salt Potatoes are a Syracuse area delicasy...very easy to do...buy a bag of the potatoes...they come with a pouch of salt with them...along with directions...you can use all the salt or as much as you want...but you need to use some...as it tenderizes the potato.....fill a pot with water...add the salt..bring to a boil and add the potatos...reduce to a medium simmer....and cook till potatoes are tender.....then melt butter...for a whole bag...I usually do at least half a pound....then drain the potatoes and pour the melted butter on them....and eat while still warm....leftovers can be used to for breakfast the next morning..just give them a bit of mashing...and fry up with onions, peppers...etc......they actually sell salt potatoes at the NY state fain held in Syracuse....

I live in the Mid-Hudson Valley, and you can get Grandma Browns and Hinderwadl salt potatoes at the local Wal-Mart. Also another Syracuse favorite you can get there is Byrne dairy milk and ice cream. I figure it's only a matter of time before the Hoffmanns arrive......Mike
