I stumbled across Roadfood by accident, one of yahoo's choice sites, couldn't resist the hotdog forum. Hugh you reminded me of one of the things I miss by living in central IL, moved here 4 yrs ago from the Syracuse area, Hofmann hotdogs. Natural casing hotdogs are almost unheard of here. OHHHHHHHHH to be back in central NY having a couple of hofmann hots and some salt potatoes. Thanks for the memory.

Just ran across your message. Yeah, Hofmanns (and salt potatoes!) will always hold prime real-estate in my heart. However, I was absolutely shocked when, just a few months ago, I tried Thumann's for the first time. In my opinion they are on par with Hofmanns; depending on what mood I'm in, I might even prefer them! They remind me of a cross between Hofmanns and kielbasa. Give 'em a try next time you get a chance.
