While visiting family in NE Atlanta, we stopped at Homespun Restaurant for lunch. Open M-F for lunch and dinner, they add in breakfast on Saturdays. Each day features a list of 5-7 entrees each accompanied by 2 sides from a daily revolving list. All the food was reasonably priced, served hot and pretty tasty! Friday's featured entrees included Turkey & Dressing, Country Fried Steak, Grilled Ham Steak, Country Chicken, Catfish & Hushpuppies, Shrimp Basket and the Pork Chop. I had the Turkey & Dressing which was all white meat, a nice sage dressing and brown gravy. I choose Mac & Cheese and Fried Okra for my sides. The Fired Okra was light and greaseless with a great breading. Everyone loved the Mac & Cheese. The Turkey & Dressing w/ 2 sides was $6.80. The entree price range was $6.55 - $7.85. Each days sides numbered 12-15 with some overlap. I also had the Creamed Corn - great, and the Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, also good. A breadbasket of dinner rolls and cornbread accompanied all entrees. I also tried the single cheeseburger which was standard issue and the fried chicken sandwich which was above average. Desserts were a different game. WOW! All priced at $1.85, Friday's selection included Fudge Cake, Blackberry Cobbler, Peach Cobbler, Apple Crisp, Strawberry Shortcake and Banana Pudding. We tried the Blackberry Cobbler and the Banana Pudding and both were return visit good! Homespun Restaurant 492 Nelson Brogdon Road (Highway 20) Buford (Sugar Hill), GA 30518 770-932-1164

Funny you should mention this place. One of my best friends used to live literally just around the corner from this restaurant. She and her husband now live in Lincolnton NC (about 45 minutes outside of Charlotte) We went there back in 1999, I actually remember ordering the fried chicken livers and recall everything was very good. The only thing we didn't like was that the Peach Cobbler filling came from a can. Good to see that this place is still around.

ChiTownDiner- This place sounds like quite a find and right up my alley. And with dessert prices that low, it had to be tempting to try them all!

BB - It seems the locals support the restaurant well as we drove by and the parking lot was packed...some cars parked 2 deep. My BIL indicated that's pretty common at lunch for about 90 minutes and that everyone switches cars around the lot in a pretty friendly manner. We returned about an hour later to less of a crowd. To add our enjoyment, we met Robert (Bob) E. Lee Hope. Bob provided a lot of intersting stories to us and the kids and entertained us with board games. As Bob pointed out, it's not often you can meet Bob Hope and Robert E. Lee at the same restaurant! Not sure if he was there in 1999 for Wanderingjew's visit but Bob clearly looked to be a fixture.

I try to hit Homespun when it's lunchtime and I'm in the area. I never have room for dessert. I usually get the CFS, corn and a salad or coleslaw. This place is a keeper and has been for many years.
