Honest Lawyer Cart

I call this the Honest Lawyer Cart. They both seem to be rare. Like anybody, I hate start out by getting ripped off buying a hotdog cart. Are there any opinions available for the following aluminum Riggan & Rollins model #048G. It has 17-digit VIN number. City of Louisville requires a 10 gal. waste tank or double the fresh water tank size. Is it unwise to assume switching out a 7 gal. waste tank for a 10 gal. waste tank before inspection is no problem? Didn't find a dealer for tanks via google. http://columbus.craigslist.org/for/703889792.html Is this the YUGO of hotdog carts. I am open to a new Custom, TopDog, or IslandTime cart but naturally want to keep start-up costs as low as possible for this part-time endeavor. Thanks All, Kirk

Didn't you ask about that cart already? As to waste tank size, swapping is fine as long as it fits. Here's a url that was recently posted: http://enchantco.com/index.html

".....but naturally want to keep start-up costs as low as possible for this part-time endeavor." The second high-priest of Karjakistan (I believe his name was Ziggy the Fourth), once wisely proclaimed......"Part-time endeavors equal part-time results." How did you get ripped off by buying a cart with too small of a tank? Didn't you check the regs first? Didn't you maybe think that the regs in Kentucky might be different than the regs in Ohio, where you bought the cart? Your preparation seems more Yugo-like than the cart. The burden of prior due diligense is your burden, not the cart manufacturer or seller. It's bothersome when people fail to do their homework and blame everyone else for their mistakes.

kensandyeggo, This used cart that I HAVE NOT bought yet conforms with Louisville, Ky regs regarding 3 conpartment sink, hand wash sink, fits within the 24 square feet allowed, and is within the height requirement, the grill is attached to the cart and runs on propane which is allowed everywhere in Kentucky. I have a notarized statement from a Health Dept. licensed kitchen to act as my commissary and permission on a businesses private lot across from waterfront park which is not within 150 feet of a competing business. Only makes sense to me to have this cart conform within the regs whether on private property or on the sidewalk in case I elect to change location at a later time. The cart has a 7 gallon waste tank and I need a 10 gallon tank which is "double" the fresh water tank-that is my concern. Does this sound like I haven't done my homework regarding the purchase of a hot dog cart? Geez kensandyeggo? I am asking opinions from seasoned people about the difficulty in obtaining a 10 gallon tank to fully conform, and if anyone owns and operates this brand of cart. kensandyeggo, does one have to work their hotdog cart 50 hours a week to achieve "full-time results", or can one work part-time on the weekends by the park and make a little extra money while having some fun? Remember kensandyeggo...ASSUMPTION is the Mother of all F***-ups! Kirk p.s thank you davebugg and delta for your help and opinion. CSD, BikerJim, Rick Malek, ShellyDawg, pork chop express, cowboy bob in Pa, and others...thanks. I have learned alot from your posts while perusing this forum the past couple of months.

O.K., Kirk. I'm big enough to offer an apology. I read your post as though you bought the cart and already got ripped off and were now complaining about it. O.K., now an opinion and only that. With the hassle involved, working just a few hours on the weekends, I doubt you'll stay too happy with that. There's a lot of prep to get a cart out and then back in. What about the leftover food? Will it last until the next weekend or will you have to toss it? If you have to toss a bunch of dogs and buns, there won't be much extra money. Does one have to work 50 hours to make a buck? Around Uptown Charlotte it seems like, when you have bozos with junk carts selling mystery-meat hot dogs for a buck. They think they're in business, but by looking at them, their carts and their tow-vehicles, you can see they're barely surviving. Serve a decent product and charge a decent price. Again, sorry for the mis-read.

No hard feelings kensandyeggo. Yeah, I was thinking about my post last night as I was logging on. I was thinking how I had a long hard night at work and was tired and vented on you abit before that 1st shot of fine Kentucky bourbon set in. I am sure that you too could be tired from that sweet hot southern sun. Thank you for the reminder that there is prep work, leftovers, and such to consider. Most of my time has been spent reading this forum and perusing classifieds for used hot dog carts that will conform to the local regs. While I do this I think about how cool it would be to work for myself, tune into the classic rock station here in town 107.7, soak up some sun, hang at the park, flirt with the chicks in their summer ware, interact with the community, tell some truths, halve-lies, have some fun and sell some GOOD dogs. I guess everyone that has ever visited this forum has had those thoughts before getting into the hot dog biz. I gotta confess, I think it would be a great way to meet chicks-all different kinds of chicks, not just the chicks that hang out at the bar or are only here for a few days then go back home to Colorado, Rhode Island, or wherever they are from. Actually the latter isn't all that bad! Hard work...yes. I guess if it was all that easy there would be hotdog stands on every street corner. I have heard quite often in this forum how this is the hardest job for easy money! I am gonna K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. Limited items. Stressful part is doing homework and making sure my initial investment will allow me to at least set-up shop and not get ripped off. If this isn't for me I believe it would be easier to sell a cart in Louisville that is legal to use in Louisville as well as the rest of the state. I mentioned this blog to my local health inspector today. I told him what this web site was about, how you all help each other in all aspects of your business. I believe y'all have something to be proud of with this site. I have the impression that an overwhelming majority of folks here play by the rules, offer best intent, and have a desire to succeed in having satisfied customers, and enjoy what you do. By the way, the health department guy told me that I was on the right page and he too was very helpful. I thought of this forum when the health dept. guy was telling me: location, location, location. I've spent many more hour reading this forum than house-breaking my dog. But then again he's smarter. Anyway, because of this forum I am not going in this blind. This forum has saved me an incalculable amount of time and I try to learn from the mistakes that folks have shared in this forum. Going in blind would have cost hours, days, weeks, months to learn from what I have learned from you folks, and during that on-the-job learning and growing phase I may have become discouraged and quit. Maybe one day I may be in a position to be of help in this forum and not a wet-behind-the-ears newbie! Thanks again to everybody in this forum. Kirk
