Hooter's

Any recommendations of what to order there? I'm being taken by someone who has a coupon.

Thanks.

I cannot complain about Hooters. I stopped there a couple of weeks ago because they are sort of convenient to where I live. I got a cheeseburger and to my surprise it was fresh cooked, hot, well dressed and very moist and tasty and the fries were very good.

For some reason they draw a huge motorcycle crowd and I wonder why?

In addition, the place was packed. That was my first visit there that I can recall. In times past, I have had some foggier moments.

    NebGuy: yeah right!!!

I cannot vouch for them as I have only been there one time but what I got was excellent. As I said before, it was packed and it was not all dudes. Very mixed crowd but I will admit that it was difficult at times to keep my eyes on the burger as they strayed sometimes to ---------------------------------------------------the fries. Surprised

Went there once years ago, hot dog was warm on the outside and very cold on the inside, never been back. Must have been frozen and not nuked long enough.

Some Hooter's have decent buffalo wings. It's hit or miss. But when it's a hit, they're really good.

Several of my boys (I have 6 sons) swear by the wings from Hooters. We have two Hooters (no pun) on our side of the river near L-ville. They do draw a crowd for College BBall games. We ate dinner at a place across the street from one of those business's at 5PM this evening. The championship NCAA Game is starting at 9PM and it looked like standing room only in the place as we walked by FOUR Hours before game-time..

I can speak to their wings. I had them the last time I was there and it was the only time I have been there. They were excellent. I got the medium and they were just right. They were fresh out of the fryer, crispy with a nice crust.

I realize that Knoxville, TN ain't the Mecca of wings but I can attest to them being very very good for my uneducated palate. I would order them again.

I was there on a Saturday afternoon at two PM and they were super packed with SRO.

Buffalo shrimp is what I usually get, but like the wings, its hit or miss. A friend always got the grouper or is that "groper" sandwich, and had no complaints...
I dont know if that is a regional item or not. We were in a Florida Hooters.....

I think that the wings at Hooters are some of the best anywhere. I used to have drawing review meeting at Hooters every Thursday for about a year for a large project for a major tobacco company and I had to choke down the Miller beer...guess the tobacco company now.

I used to take my two small daughters (they are now teenagers) to Hooters on South Blvd in Charlotte (now closed) for wings on Saturday for lunch. Six to eight Hooters girls fawning over my small kids was such a problem.

I've always thought that during the hiring process they would ask a girl her size and then give her two sizes smaller. Maybe three...The grouper sandwich is very good also.

I am not so old that I go to Hooters for the food but the burgers ARE better than FF. My oldest daughter has a t-shirt thats says " I prefer Dicks to Hooters" referring of course to that other wingNbeer place, Dicks Wings.

I would go with the hamburger. As Sundancer said, it seems to be fresh and the fries aren't bad. I don't like the wings there at all. They're breaded. I went to school in upstate New York and visited my roommate's home in Erie, PA a lot which is right near Buffalo. And I was taught right away that breaded wings are just wrong.

I also, like my wings, "nekkid".. (which has a different meaning in other places).. some take it for no breading, some take it for for no sauce.
But in BBQ, when I say nekkid, I mean no sauce--wings>no breading.

You're right. Breaded wings are totally wrong.
However, I've never had breaded wings at a Hooter's.
I have had skimpy, hardly any meat on the bones wings (which are bad). But never breaded.

I've actually had good steamed king crab legs with drawn butter on the side at the Hooters' in Lafayette, Louisiana and Midlothian, Virginia (near Richmond). I don't know if they're served at the inland locations. Yes, and the beer is cold.

    Sandy,
Give the Newport location a try. They can't even get the cold beer right.

I'm originally from Western NY, just north of Buffalo.
Yeah, Hooters' wings aren't as good the Anchor Bar's wings, but the Anchor Bar's staff ain't nowhere near as good looking as Hooters'.
I like the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich at Hooters.

I saw the Hooters' Casino in Vegas last weekend, but didn't have a chance to stop in. I'm sure it will do real well there.

I am sure it will do as least as well as their airline:

    http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/myrtlebeachonline/14211018.htm

Or, their first hotel, in Lakeland, FL.:
    http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/stories/2002/02/11/story1.html

I tried to find a review on TripAdvisor, but NO ONE has written one. I have driven past there on more than one occasion, and I would never stay there, but I tend to be pretty picky about my hotel choices.

    Well,

I went, and I survived, but if I never go back, I won't be disappointed.

I ordered the $7.99 "fish and chips." Instead of being light and flaky, the fish (which they said was Mahi), was heavy and fishy-tasting. It was probably from a box. I've had better fried fish from frozen dinners I've bought at the grocery store. The curly fries that came with it had a curiously plastic flavor. I ate about half of what I got - and it's very unusual for me not to clear my plate. My dining companion agreed that the meal was very disappointing.

To make matters worse, the atmosphere was not to my liking. Noisy music made it hard to have a conversation. The place was crowded, but I can't see why anyone would go there if they had the choice (I didn't). After we left, I saw a local Italian beef stand on the opposite corner and was very tempted to go in and get a real lunch. I restrained myself, and spent the afternoon munching pretzels to get the taste out of my mouth.

    Wally,

Umm...thanks. We'll steer clear. Speaking of beer, have you been to the Pub at Crestview Hills? I'm wondering if the food is any good. My spouse is fond of Guinness and we were planning to give the place a try.

I actually like Hooters wings....had both the breaded and nekkid versions. The wings at Hooters are HUGE compared to other wing joints. I like the fact that they serve the whole wing...not just drummies and flappers.

    Not to mention the ummmmm...nice...ummmm...hats
