Has anyone heard of or been to this place? They seem to exist only around the off-ramps to the PA Turnpike.
It looks like a combination of Long John Silver and Lum's (for those who remember Lum's)....can anyone confirm this?

I've been to the one in York, PA (not on the PA turnpike) a couple of times. It's an interesting concept. It's a steakhouse type of place, but instead of ordering entrees and sides, you order an entree, and all the sides and desserts are on a buffet (called a Hoss-pitality bar) The food is pretty good for the price, and the interior decor is fun. The one in York has a motorcycle in the dining room. It's nothing like Long John Silvers, and Lum's is before my time, so I can't comment on that. Maybe someone else can. http://www.hosss.com/

It sounds to me a lot like a Bonanza or Ponderosa Steak House. They always had a buffet to go with their entrees.

It's been a while since I've been to a Hoss's(think 90's) At that point in time, they were much like a Ponderosa or Bonanza, but with a much larger variety, more like Golden Corral. Not a bad place, not a wonderful place.......some items much better than others. You got what you paid for.

You don't suppose there might be some connection do you? Let's see. Bonanza, Ponderosa, Hoss. The only thing missing is Little Joe. Hmmm. Bonanza -- Dead. Ponderosa-- Almost dead. Lorne Greene -- Dead. Dan Blocker -- Dead. Michael Landon -- Dead. Pernell Roberts -- Still around. Victor Sen Yung -- Dead.

Hoss's still seems to be going strong in the Keystone state. There's still a Ponderosa hanging on here in Carbondale. Still it is strange that three restaurant's names can be inspired by the same TV show.

There is one in Martinsburg, WV. I haven't been in years but it used to be pretty good. Like a Ponderosa as some1 already said.

Victor Sen Yung = Hop Sing Mr. Hoffmann did mention him.

They had one in the Binghamton, NY area that lasted for a short time, and most of their stores seem to be in Pennsylvania. They are a bit more upscale than a Bonanza or Ponderosa. A little more like a Lone Star I would say. Went to the Binghamton one a couple of times, and what I had I liked, but apparently others didn't like it, it closed up and went away in a couple years' time.

Bonanza & Ponderosa are owned by the same comany, and these days are virtually identical. I believe that Bonanza bought out Ponderosa back in the late 80s - they used to compete with one another here in St. Louis.
