Hot Dog Cart Business Bookkeeping

Hi everyone, I am seriously considering the hot dog cart business and while doing research on the 'net, I cannot find much info or advice on business accounting - So I've got a question for the seasoned business owner's regarding accounting / bookkeeping -- Does anyone use a small business software program that works well with the hot dog cart biz? If so, and you're a Mac user, all the better. None the less, advice from PC user's who have found a program / application that works well with this biz will also be appreciated. Btw; this is a great site for people considering the business.

quickbooks is fairly adaptive, and does a great job with all your needs It is not a easily a pos system, but for the daily/weekly/monthly it is great.

Hello All, I am taking a class in Microsoft Excel, just one lesson so far, but it seems to be far out. (Far Out, that is not helpful.) I am just learning, but it is could have possibilities. Take Care, Fieldthistle

Actually, QuickBooks does have a specialized POS package, but I suspect that anything more than an apron and a cashbox might be more than needed at the POS.

I think bookkeeping is the one area where you need to stay away from freeware programs. It may work just fine for years, or you might experience a problem and not have anyone to rely to help you fix it. There are a number of inexpensive bookkeeping programs out there that are backed up by tech support. I'm not familiar with Dale Harris free POS, but I'd hate to depend on it and it really turn into a pos. Maybe I'm too careful with putting my faith in something that's free.
