Hot Dog Shoppe Sauce Warren Ohio

Does anyone know the recipe for the hot dog sauce that is used at the Hot Dog Shoppe located in Warren, Ohio. I was born and raised in Warren and they have the best hot dogs I've ever had. I now live in Phoenix, AZ and wish I could make the sauce myself. We used to drive 150 miles to Warren just to buy hot dogs. I have tried several recipes but just can't get it right. I have searched the web for the recipe but no luck. This amazes me as that a restaurant that has beem in businesss for over 60 years, and no one knows the recipe. Any thoughts?

I am also originally from Warren, left due to economic reasons. I make it a pernt to eat there whenever I can get north. As far as the recipe for the chili or cheeze sauce, I have no clue.

This may help. I was in Westerville, setting an AC. I met the neighbor who is from the same area. He told me he could buy jars of the sauce, but still couldn't replaicate the HDS.

I don't know if the HDS has a website or not. IMO, the HDS is one of the few places that has not lost quality. When I go north for the holiday, guess where I'm stopping. A couple of superdogs with cheddar and chili sound so good right now.

Hmmmm..... I don't live very far away from Warren. If this place is that good, I will have to head over and check it out. It looks like it is fairly close to Sunrise Inn, so I can throw down a few chili dogs and then get a pizza at SI to take home.

Let me know how you like the dogs. The fries are fresh cut and they are great with sauce on them.

Welcome to Roadfood and the Valley of Blazing Hot!
If you're looking for a decent dog out here, try Ted's Hot Dogs in Tempe. SW corner of Broadway & McClintock. A "Back East" dog from Buffalo. The hot chili sauce is good on them and be sure to get the onion rings. Hand battered on the premises.
