Hot Dog/Gyro Stand ---- Problem

I am in the process of trying to set up a hot dog/gyro push cart stand on my local main street. After inquiring about fees and rules, I found out from the municipality that the allowed hours of operation are from 9AM to 9PM. I live in the college type town with a ton of bars where the majority of my business would take place between 12AM and 3AM on Friday and Saturday. I don't think it would be worth it without being able to operate past 9PM. My buddy from out west who has done very well with a combo Gyro/hot dog stand said he ran into the same situation with the city(9 to 9), but has had the stand for 2 years now and operated until 3AM and never had a problem. I am wondering if others have run into a similar situation. Any advice or recommendations? Thanks!

Fight city hall is my only suggestion. They pulled the same crap out here a month ago.. No more late night street vendors.. The reason being they attracted crowds that could get violent. Yet a restaurant is still allowed to be open?

You might go to a meeting of the restaurant association or main street club or whatever. It might be that the owners of "real" restaurants are behind the policy.

Good point. A bar with no food of its own might consider it to be a blessing to have food available for customers.
