I dunno Dale. I just mentally got over hot dogs inside a pretzel. Not sure I can stomach the idea of a hot dog inside a doughnut. Sugar or not.

Well that is not a worry since "fresh" and donuts are two words that don't go together at Dunkin Donuts anymore. You would not get a "fresh donut" aroma if you held an opne box of them in front of your face.

Just goes to show how long it's been since I've been there..

This weekend I saw a place in Medford NY (LI) which was an Exxon station with a DD and a Nathan's inside. Didn't get a chance to go in, so can't comment on quality or variety. If this is a regular occurance, I wonder if they will have a problem with offering their own dogs elsewhere.

Hey! I remember them from my "Then Came Bronson" days on the bike out in L.A. Were the tacos .19 or .29? Not quite total recall, but they were cheap good and super greasy. As all memorable food tends to be. (Wether it was really good or not. )

Sometimes these threads get like, so far out, man.

Like now I'm imagining Michael Parks on a Harley in the parking lot of a DD in Pawtucket, RI washing a Kruller Dog down with an Iced Latte.

Do we have an update here? Do we have a RoadFooder on assignment in the town where the anointed and entrusted Dunkin Donuts is located? If not, why not? Have the Good Times, or at least the Hot Dogs, begun to roll?

Have we found out what dog they're using? How many to a pound? What are customers saying?

Is it the biggest thing to hit Frankfurterdom since Nathan Handwerker said, "Y'know, let's try it on a bun; it falls off the celery stick?"

Do we know yet whether or not this Great Hot Dog Experiment of 2006 will change the World as we know it?

That's mostly the reason I go to my local DD.. for the baskin robbins. Now that is good icecream. Coffee is pretty good, too.

Not much of a donut person anymore, trying to do the diet thing. But icecream is always my downfall.

Ontopic, if they can do it, and do it well, more power to em.

I await the news with baited breath, with no less anticipation than the English people in their vigil to hear of Admiral Lord Nelson's fortunes.

I still say they should stay the course with the original product that has made this corporation a skillion dollars. At one time it was a very good product, hand cut donuts fresh most all day long, and one of the come ons was fresh brewed coffee every 18 minutes. Now, hot dogs why? Their original product is crap and they are going to give us a better dog? They hired an exutive chef to pull this off and add other items to the over expanded items that they carry now. To the suits and ties of the corporation, wake up and smell the coffee and give us a decient donut. Chow Jim

Dunkin Donuts had a great product when they made them fresh every four hrs.
I went to one of the stores about three yrs ago and the donut was at least a day
old. They wont see me again.

I hear that all the Krispy Kream donut shops in Phonix
were closed this AM so thats good news.

Jack I can't understand about your pleasure about KK closing. Competition is good for the overall business and the consumer. So it dose sadden me that they are in fact are shutting down and people are loseing their jobs, less tax revenue for the area, and less competition meens the other guy can slack off a bit. Chow Jim

This may all be true, the donut industry could be better. But, whether Dunkin Donuts has any business or not selling hot dogs, has anyone in these United States tried one yet? And do they know who DD contracted with to supply the franks.

I'm wondering if they're having problems with their new "cafe" concept which I understood would coincide with new menu items. They announced that they were going to open a new store with the new concept in my town (because it's at least 3 miles to the nearest DD) almost a year ago, but the site hasn't been touched.

Has anyone seen one of their new concept shops outside of the one in Pawtucket?

JIM...

You were right about the thoughtfulness of my statement concerning the closure of the local Krispy Kreme donut shops in the Phoenix area. I heard yesterday that they closed Thursday so they didn’t have to meet the Friday payroll. I also heard that some employees were due two weeks pay.

Ashphalt, The corporation has recently changed hands again from a British firm to a local investment house. Now wether the new concept plans have been put on hold or moved to the back burner is anyones guess. I do understand that with dietary habits we are not consuming those wonderfull tastey morsels of mouth watering goodness the way we use to, but we all sin on occasion. Hopefully the new investment group has some older members on their board that remember what their product once was and return to that great hand cut donut. Untill that time when the urge strikes i'll have to go to Honey Dew or Kanes when in the area. Chow Jim

According to this report, it's a mini-Kosher dog wrapped in biscuit dough.

Also says they're planning on breakfast pizzas.

So, who's closest to Nashua NH, Pawtucket RI, or Euclid OH?

I drive through Nashua often, but I won't be stopping. To me DD represents everything that's wrong with America. Weak coffee, weak service, inferior donuts, and they charge an arm and a leg for everything they sell.

Why would anybody who enjoys good hotdogs subject themselves to what is sure to be a frozen then precooked and micro-waved sub-par experience???

On an outside chance this idea turns into a hit, and they do serve a good product I would still boycott and find a local vendor who cares about the quality of his food and wants to build a loyalty to his place of business.
