Hot Dogs in PA

I'm new to the forum but not new to "road food" (or the food industry for that matter). I plan on hanging around here quit a bit. I am a hot dog fanatic but I am discovering that the local hot dogs here don't sound near as good as what a lot of you describe buying along the north east coast. Can anyone tell me where to go in central PA to get a "Great" hot dog? Locally, we have a few Texas Hot Dog places that people flock to in droves but I must say that I make a better dog in my home.

Wouldn't call it a great dog, but I like the Mexi-hots at Meyer Dairy in State College.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try these places. I wish there was more variety here. All the dog joints serve the same thing. So boring and relatively bland.

I will definitely plan it out and let you know. How about directions from Bedford, PA. I have not tried the places in Gettysburg or Hanover. What are the names of those places?

To Spinaltap, Follow Rte 30 east to gettysburg and 1 Block on west side of Square is Ernes texas weiners and when you get to square in Gettysburg go south to y in the road go left or straight about a stone throws on right is another place. I like their dogs, I am probably one of his few customers who doesn dress them. I like them Nude. As for my place continue on 30 east to Manhiem Pike go North about 7 miles to the Worlds Largest Auto Auction (follow the Car Carriers to my place) turn left at Auction stop lite go 1 Block turn right I'm on the left. I serve 100% all Beef dogs. Since I started out selling Dogs, I have added Burgers and Breakfast Sandwiches. As far as the breakfast sandwiches go I need help on the proper way to cook an egg. I now break an egg into a Mwave dish add a splash of milk and nuke for 3-30sec intervals then on last 30 sec I add a Canadian Bacon to the top of the lid. Then this is where my problem comes in getting the egg out of the bowl. If I add spray release first it makes no difference. Please advise me if you have had any success with this method. If not I will go back to grillin in a cooking ring. But after doing burgers and sometimes doing dogs on grill, It coats the surface and leaves the sand. looking dirty. Yes I wipe the grill with sanitizer before cooking. I'd rather do the eggs in the micro. Later Cowboy Bob 2

Thanks cowboy bob 2. I will let you know when I will be stopping by for some great dogs! As far as the eggs, I have small (dessert?) Pyrex dishes that I cook eggs in for my wife. I spray with a little pan release and add a spot of butter to the bottom. They don't just slide right out but they come out VERY easily ...no hassle at all. I never made them in a microwave before until my wife showed me how to make them for her one day she was running late for work Now, I make them this way all the time.

Well I went back to the old way, on the grill in a cooking ring. I heat the grill first, add butter, put the ring on, crack the egg in the ring, break the yoke, salt & pepper. when it looks just about right. I use a plastic knife to cut away from ring. Ithen flip the egg and add a piece of melted cheese. I usually serve with Canadian Bacon or Sausage. I bought a sausage link and I slice a piece off and grill that along side. While adding a drop of maple syrup to the sausage, Yum Yum! can't you just taste it and the smell drives me Crazy. $2.00 served on a sesame seed bun. Cowboy Bob[|)]
