Hot Hot Chicken.

Dearfolk, The band Wet Willie had a song with that title on one of their earlier Capricorn albums. It was in homage of an eating place near the recording studio in Macon that was noted for that one thing only: hot hot chicken. This is not to be confused with nearby downtown eateries Len Berg's, Nu-Way Weiners, nor The H. & H. Restaurant ("vittles: Louise" - said the Allman Brothers). I'm reasonably sure the place was either on Cotton Avenue or else right off it... fact is, it's likely still there. Does anybody know anything about this Macon phenomenon? Is it at all like the similar place at the west end of the Shelby Avenue Bridge in downtown Nashville, Tennessee? Y'all gonna make me motor down to Macon to find out for myself (as soon as gasoline comes down a bit!). Starting A Heated Discussion, Ort. Carlton in Drippyrainy Athens, Georgia.

Prince Hot Chicken Shack is located at 123 Ewing Dr. Nashville Tn 37207. Another hot chicken place in Nashville is HotChickens.com 7541 Old Hickory Blvd. Whites Creek, TN 37189 www.hotchickens.com I don't think it is as good as Prince's but it has the country music connection with Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kersha quote:Originally posted by pogophiles The Nashville location Ort refers to is Prince's Hot Chicken, though it is now in a different location...

It's a shame that place closed, but if you will only go over to both Prince's and Hot Chicken, you can be the one to report back on which is better. I'll try them both when I am able to motor up your way. Until then, I'll have to improvise something else. Happy Thanksgiving! Turkeylessly, Ort. Carlton in Library Closing Athens, GA.

HOT refers to the spices involved. You can order it mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. Mild is somewhat more inflammatory than Popeye's. By the time you get to hot, the aroma alone will bring tears to your eyes and speed up your heartbeat. I can eat raw habaneros, but haven't yet had the courage to order extra hot chicken.

Nashville has always had some unusual places like this. When I started a business there in 1976, there were several places that sold hot fish sandwichs. They were great. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN
