Hot 'N' Hunky

The last two trips to San Francisco, we ate at Hot 'N' Hunky. HNH serves classic greasy burgers, real French fries, and tasty malts. The place is dedicated to Marilyn Monroe with kitchy names of every possible variety of burger. A fun place for people watching. www.snapcity.com/past/snap25/snap25.html

Seems to me the 18th Street location closed. I went there a lot when I lived a block away. They served on Fiesta, the Homer Laughlin dishes. Nowadays I get good "out" burgers at Orphan Andy's, which is on 17th street just east of Castro. They cut their own potatoes and every burger is hand-shaped. It's open 24 hours, and I also heartily recommend the Big Two breakfast. If you liked the ambiance of Hot 'n Hunky, you'll like Orphan Andy's. The two window tables are more comfy than the booths or counter, and are the best people-watching spots in SF.
