Hot chocolate/Hot coffee

Well, tonight in Santa Fe it's about 50 degrees and raining (yes my East Coast friends think I am sweltering in the middle of the Sonora Desert...time for a geography lesson). I was in the mood for something warm to drink. My friend from Germany told me her little secret - put a pinch of hot chocolate powder in your coffee brew (it's delish); tonight I did the opposite - made a nice cup of chocolate and poured in a small bit of hot coffee - yum. Nothing special - just didn't expect to be sharing this tip in August!

For many years, I've brewed coffee and poured that into hot chocolate mix. My favorite mix is a combination of chocolate and hot chilis: http://www.mrchocolate.com/detail.aspx?ID=54 One time spending the weekend with The Mayors, he suggested I put some Peppermint Schnapps in my hot chocolate. I was a bit skeptical, but it was delicious.

The drink--Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Schnapps is called an "Alpine". I guess that's linked to it's winter-warming capabilities. It has been a favorite of ours at fall football games for many years. Try it in Chocolate pudding as well. It gives the thick pudding a nice aftertaste! I am also a real fan of Peach Schnapps in my OJ on a hot day !

I thought that Peach Schnapps and OJ was a Fuzzy Navel?
