Hot dogs at Mr. Beef? It's true!

This from Chicago Sun Times food reviewer Pat Bruno: MR. BEEF ON ORLEANS 666 N. Orleans; (312) 337-8500 VIBE What's Chicago's premier beef stand doing selling hot dogs? According to Christopher and Todd, "Customers kept asking for hot dogs, for a little change of pace, so we decided to do a classic Chicago hot dog." Other than adding hot dogs, nothing much has changed here; you can still get one of the best beef sandwiches in town. FLAVOR: The hot dogs are from Vienna, eight dogs to the pound. They are boiled, the poppyseed bun is steamed, and the condiments are all that you'd expect from a classic Chicago hot dog: mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle, sport peppers and celery salt. Good fries. Mr. Beef does some fine chili, too, so have the chili dog; you will love it. KIDS: Yes. COST: $

It would be very hard to order anything but a beef sandwich there, for me anyway. Who were those customers who kept demanding hot dogs, I wonder? They should have gone to a hot dog place.

I've only been there once, danimal, but I agree wholeheartedly. Then again, if I own Mr Beef's and I have the opportunity to increase my sales by adding a hot dog, then I've got to at least consider it
