Hotdogs near Danbury CT

I'm going to be up near Danbury for a weekend and figured while waiting for the NJ Tour, I would try a place or 2 in CT. Since my weekend is going to be quite busy, I need to find places close to Danbury. Roadfood lists 2 in Danbury JK's and Roadside Chili house in Bethel (close enough) I am planning a stop at the sycamore and Dr. Mikes in Bethel, But wanted to know if there is anything else I might be missing out on in the general area. I'm going back home on 84 & 684 so if there's anything right off the highway, that would be great for a stop on the way home to NY, let me know!!

There is a Karl Ehmer's at 6 Federal Rd. in Danbury. I don't know where that is, though. I don't know whether they serve hot dogs from a cart like they do in some of their locations, but you can buy dogs to take home. Both the German style franks and the all beef are some of the best that I've had.

Karl Ehmer is on the corner of Federal Road and White Street not far from WCSU main campus. The have a deli and will make sandwiches and stuff to order but I don't think they have hot food available. Their bratwurst is the BEST! Bring some home for sure. JK's and the chili house are the two big hot dog joints in the area. Pippa's sports bar just a little ways down the street from JK's has really good wings. In the other direction, at the end of Main Street is a good portugese bakery. Great Rolls! TK's which is around the corner from Karl Ehmer also has good wings (More flavors than pippa's) but when its crowded sometimes the quality slips. They'll give you free wings on your birthday. Definately go to Sycamore and get the root beer with your burgers. Every Sat they have a classic car show. the spill over goes to Marcus Dairy so be sure to check that out on Sat, too. Cool cars. For a quick, good, cheap meal hit amigos spanish market. $5 get you a huge meal of meat, rice and beans. For a good, sit down meal I really like Tonellis (also in Bethel). Get the seafood combo. It is under $20 and will take you 3 days to eat it all. Putnam House in Bethel is also good but much fancier. The Bar is much more casual and also has good wings. Two Brothers Pizza on Route 6 Between I-84 exit 2 and NY Route 22 has very good sicilian pizza. You can get it by the slice.

efuery! Thanks so much, I was wondering if I should have posted to the "where should I eat" forum, you've given me somwe additional options. John, We have a Karl Ehmers about 5min away, but I've never gone (slapping forehead) I'm going to drive by there on the way home on friday and pick up some brats, and the two types of dogs you mentioned. I'm a natural casing guy (I assume these are natural casing?) Any other suggestions?

If you bring the kids when you stop in at Karl Ehmer they usually give them a little cocktail frank to snack on. That is a fond memory of my youth, and one my kids look forward to as well. Many of these stores carry Silver Bell Lithuanian rye breads which are simply outstanding. I'd recommend getting one to take home if you stop.
