I'll take mine extreme. Try some Defcon Condition 1 sauce.

Im good with anything under Daves Insanity sauce level for regular eating.

I do like Daves, and sauces like it occasionally, but then again I eat fresh, and pickled jalapenos like they were candy.

I generally like hot foods at the "medium" to "medium hot" level. I don't want to have significant lip numbness; just a good tingle.

once I start to sweat, it's too hot. I like hot sauces that have a good fruitiness from the peppers contained within, as well as a nice vinegar kick; too much heat from the pure pepper, and it drowns out the other taste sensation.

One of my daughters can seemingly empty half a bottle of Cholula onto her scrambled eggs and enjoy it. For me; several good dashes is great; but I also want to taste the food I'm eating.

My youngest son has grown up with the ocassional potty mouth, and a home remedy my wife and I heard about was to put a drop of hot sauce on the child's tongue (simular to the old wash out your mouth with soap routine, which I could never do.) so they wouldn't repeat it.

Well, one time he dropped a four letter work he'd heard at school on us, so she got out the hot sauce. He loved it, and asked for more. It was Crystal sauce, which isn't that hot, but it should have been plenty...now he wants it on everything.

Every time we think of the hot sauce experiment, we have to laugh.

For me, the perfect heat is when I've eaten my entire order of wings & I'm convinced that the temperature in the restaurant has gone up 10 degrees.

uh, yeah, he asked for hot, not inedible. I guess you are missing something.

hot buffalo wings should not be so hot that it's extremely uncomfortable to eat them. if that happens, it ceases its connection to true buffalo wings.

              Your bang on Scorereader.
There are several degrees of ordering chicken wings, Mild, Medium, Hot, extra Hot, Suicide and unthinkable. The wings served to me were in the suicide category. Mouth blistering Hot.

Habanero peppers, fall in the mouth blistering category and are dangerous for your health.

You said you like Frank's level heat, that's not hot, that's mild. All you had to do was tell the waiter they were too hot. No biggie.

there are three types of wings in my book: mild, medium and hot. Anyone who makes something hotter is trying to impress and probably ruining the wing experience in the process.
Creating the self ability to eat the hottest on earth wings, is akin to buying the most expensive sports car for no other reason than you can afford it. It serves no pupose other than to say you had it. Of course, as teens, we often did this ridiculous ritual, until we wised up. Suicidal is merely a gimmick to get people to eat wings without enjoying them instead, they enjoy the satisfaction of eating something hot. If the people are of legal drinking age, even better! more pitcher of beers get sold!

I suppose, with all those pepper oils out there where you have to sign a waiver to buy them, I could easily create a wing so hot, it could kill a person with one bite. Some idiot would probably try it. Another idiot might even survive the experience. But what's the point. Might as well skip the chicken wing and just eat the pepper oil and save the meaty morsel for someone who actually likes buffalo wings.

since people seemed to get miffed if you post your opinion without saying it's just your opinion and not the opinion of others (even though it should be assumed that almost anything said on a forum such as this is just merely one poster's opinion - without need to specify), begrudgingly I'll go ahead with the caveat that the above post is merely my own opinion. Others may agree, others may disagree. No need to argue with me, you won't change my mind. I've been eating (buffalo) wings before they were were buffalo wings. We just called them wings, since other styles of wings didn't exist yet. Heck, you couldn't find wings outside of WNY for years. Have a family recipe we've been perfecting for 30 years. So, this is one food where I take a hard line. I'll try anyone's sauce. But ultimate heat is not the key ingredient that will win my favor. The right combo of tang and heat with meaty substance on the bone without having so much meat there's a baked/fried chickeny flavor, is the right balance (again, IMO). Win me with flavor, and I'll be a regular customer.

Score - I agree with you, once you get past a certain level of heat, it no longers becomes fun eating them.

My local wing place has 20+ sauces from mild to garlic to teriaki(sp), but the also cross the line when it comes to their: Extremely Hot, Suicidal Hot, and the "Are You Stoopid Hot"

Frank's is not hot, to a Chili Head. Suicidal is not hot, to a Macho Chili Head. Habanero Peppers are not too hot, to a less than bright, Chili Head. As for sending food back to the kitchen, I don't. I figure if that is their standard, so be it.
There are lots of good places to eat, I don't have to be patronizing to a place that don't know their hot from their suicide.

                            That is one beautiful pepper.
No longer 20something, I don't think I'd care to sample it but I'd love to taste the curry.
