in vegas, you have too. if you handle the food with your hands. which you do not have to. use dog papers or foil and a dog sled for holding dogs as you make them. and handle the dogs and buns with tongs.

i'm in Maryland, the worst state possible to get your CCW. As an ESTABLISHED cash business owner, They say I should have no problems getting my permit. I am still hesitant to apply, I figure if I leave a few rounds on the counter or a clip, they will get the message that I just " MIGHT " be carrying.   As a business owner, you are within your rights to house a firearm under the counter, the transportation law for a firearm still is in effect though. I don't own a gun b/c I have children and if I did, it would stay in my vehicle locked up.

now heres a twist, if ;you had to take your gloves off at every money transaction, you'd run out of gloves!  I dont think there is a problem with taking money and serving food, no?  Let me know.  it wasnt covered in my training at all, there is no cross contamination etc.  The person gives you the money, and you provide them the food.  Otherwise, if there was a problem, EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES WOULD HAVE TO WEAR GLOVES everywhere they went?

There's no cross contamination of foods, but there;s the fact that money is filthy dirty. Does that count?
You don't know if that dollar bill that you just gave JimBob has been un the ground, up a strippers ass, in sewer water, the dog ate it and puked it up, sneezed on, had a runner with no pockets put it away for safe keeping,
You get where I'm going with this don't you? Want me to make your food with the same gloves on? Thought not.
I go through at least a box of gloves a day.

I sell BBQ along with dogs out of a trailer. Each day I start with $150 in a cheap, POS, cash register. $50 in 10's, $50 in 5's and $50 in 1's. In my pocket I keep $200 ( 4-20's, 5-10's, 8-5's and 30-1's) this is my back up bank and change for the $100 you get early in the day.

I'm open from 11-3:30 from Tuesday till Friday ( I cater on weekends). I put the money in small manila envelopes. I have one for each day. After closing i put the days receipts in an envelope then into my desk. On the weekends I count the money and write the numbers on the outside of the envelope including weather and any thing else that could effect the days sales and refill for the next week.

This works easiest for me as a one man operator, I used to start with less money but was always going to the "bank" for more change.

I wash my hands between each transaction, it's a PIA but something you have to do. My HD is good with the hand washing instead of gloves.

maybe it's just the wife and I, but we will not buy from a vendor that is not wearing gloves.

I don't wear gloves because I don't touch the food. Tongs and tissue paper.

yep, same here, been doing it so long that I don't ever touch the food. It's not hard to do it with tongs. I have gloves on hand at all times but I only use them for prepping buns in the morning and a few other things, like sticking my hand in my spider infested battery compartment  HAHAHA

I recently found buns that aren't attached to each other (Merita). I can easily grab buns one at a time from the bag. So now I only use gloves for prepping onions and peppers, BUT......my inspector saw me doing that and said I didn't need the gloves because the O & P's were gonna be cooked.

The inspector is correct. Only ready to eat items have to be gloved.

A few thoughts on this:

-Cash boxes are a target because they look like they have money in them. Sometimes I use an old margarine container.

-Fanny packs are great! You can get one with zippered pockets for all sorts of bills and change and it's always on you.

Here hot dog guys don't have wads of 20's. The robbers are much smarter too. They rob banks, Gofers and other places with money. Hot dog cart money wouldn't support their dope habit but for a day or two.

I just use one of these:  http://www.amazon.com/Spa...ywords=sparco+cash+box

I wear a glove on my left hand and tongs in my right hand for handling the food. I hold the plastic bag of buns with my right hand after putting down the tongs and take buns out of the bag with my glove hand. I don't touch food without gloves period. The HD may be watching with binoculars.

I always let the robber take the money box and then fire a shot in the air and yell stop. The response I get is that they stop and drop the money box on the ground and they also sh*t their pants. No I do not clean the crap up. That's up to the proprietor of the location to do. So far I haven't had any problems other than not being able to acquire a wad of $20s here in Western Colorado with my hot dog cart.

I've been trying to figure out a system. I have my concealed carry permit so I'm not worried about my safety. My pizza delivery driver past tells me I should just keep  20 in change on me and dump the rest into some type of cash box. i was thinking of something attached to the cart. That way there's no chance of anyone running off with it. Worst case is i toss them whats in my pocket and im out 20 dollars.

Do you have to wash after touching your concealed weapon? Can I get a concealed food permit?  Back about a hundred years ago when I got robbed my first day ever working, I was so glad the guy knew where to get the money from. We each had about a grand in our pockets (3 of us), he helped himself only to the cash we threw in the desk drawer. We were all frozen with fear like in a bad dream where you can't move. Surprised I ever worked another day in my life. One of the guys I was with had just got back from Nam, I can't see even that guy together enough to fire back at some robber.
