Greymo, you are absolutely correct. They are a chain that has their stuff together with a very uncomplicated menu that is super. I actually enjoy reading their menu. I could enjoy their hashbrowns everyday. I wish I could do them at home like they do. I wish I could fry a egg like they do. Their product has taste. Some has found fault with a particular location and I do not doubt that. I find fault with my own cooking quite often. They are unique with their size, menu, service, attitude and taste. Paul E. Each Waffle House is like a roadside diner, only with big financial support. I've eaten at WH all over the south, and they all have the great food I expect, with their own local "flavor". I remember lots of great WH experiences. The first one that comes to mind tonight is an early morning breakfast in Hattiesburg, MS. My waitress was a stunningly beautiful, raven-haired Goddess. She opened her to speak (taking my order), and I don't think I've ever heard a worse dialect. I fell in love...

One of my favorite WH experiences was having an early bite with Sundancer in Dickson, while waiting for Al and Bushie to start out on our first Glee Club Q crawl. While we were drinking coffee and having sausage biscuits, Al and Bushie were already scoring ribs at a joint in White Bluff.

Good food, good conversation and the beginning of a memorable "eventful" day. One of the few times I have OD'd on BBQ. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

When they serve them they pull the 50/50 Del Monte catsup/Hunts ketchup off wherever you’re sitting. John

My most prized menu in my menu collection is a W.H. one from the mid 90's. The ones that like 60 pictures on it and the famous statement "World's Leading Server of Raisin Toast and Cheese Eggs". This was also before they started having combo meals and wraps which oddly enough you would think they would have jumped the shark with those but they are popular at W.H. (atleast one of our local ones).

i am a recent convert (okay, i went for the first time today) and the food was excellent, onions perfect and the best hash browns i ever had short of my father's home made. the waitperson was fiesty, droll and altogether a wonder. Kara belongs in films, not in a waffle house the cook who strongly sufggested i call her donald was an egg cracking whizz. no cigarete fumes, clean as a whistle, yes YES, i will be going back on a regular basis if only to be told to "go home, we're all out of everything". dayle wafflehouse on central ave near juan tabo

My wife and I have been fans of WH for years, despite the fact that we live in "chain deprived" CT (as one contributor stated in another thread). Each time we go South, we look for the first WH sign on the horizon...that means we're actually in the South! In my view, WH is really a great Southern diner...kissin' cousins of the many diners in the Northeast. The food, the welcome, the bottomless cup-a-Joe makes you think you're really not that far from home. Oh if only they'd come a little farther North! Fast food? No way. The fact that WH is a chain should not, IMO, relegate it to FF status. That would be most unjust.

I'm sorry you don't have any Waffle Houses in Connecticut, but unless they've moved Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, Indiana and Illinois out of the North, I think you're going to have to amend your idea of where the South begins.

Don't forget Delaware; there's one on Rte. 13 in Smyrna (at least it was there in September,) and another one somewhere in Middletown I believe.

John The best reason for not asking for pancakes at a Waffle house is because they don't make pancakes. Isn't that part of a blonde joke somewhere...lmao
