Well, we're off to Hatteras again and are taking a new route. We'll be taking Hwy 460 from Blacksburg all the way to Norfolk and then taking 168/158 down to the OBX. Any interesting food places you can recommend along the route?

Virginia Diner Route 460 Wakefield, VA quote: The Virginia Diner is a refuge for folks who like down-home cooking. Buckets of free peanuts for munching greet guests along with the irresistible aroma of freshly prepared dishes with all-time favorites like Country Cured Ham, Southern Fried Chicken, Famous Peanutty Pie, and Flaky Buttermilk Biscuits just like Grandma Galloway used to make. Traditional southern hospitality and efficient service

I would avoid Virginia Diner. I was just there about a week ago and it was awful, not to mention that we had a waitress that was obviously having a bad day. I do second Cowlings, though.

Ditto on VA Diner. We went several years ago and not only had bad service with a surly waitress, but the food took well over an hour to reach our table. We let the manager know of our discontent. We'll also never return.

The Hitch-in-Post on Route 15 is about five minutes from 460. I probably ate about half of my meals there while in college.

While traveling on Virginia's Route 460, what's the better choice: the above touted Cowling's BBQ (in Waverly) or Prince George Family BBQ in Petersburg? I passed both last week. Each had full parking lots and just screamed RoadFood. Anyone have the latest intel on these two literal roadside BBQ joints?
