I 80 Restaurants

I will be driving with my son from NYC to Oberlin, Ohio - 450 miles on I 80. Any suggestions for meals in PA or Ohio that are not far off the highway other than fast food?

    Penn State Sub Shop:
    Pleasant View Boulevard
    Bellefonte, PA 16823

    Exit Rt. 150 South
take Left to stay on Rt. 150 S. (Mill St., which turns into Pleasantville BLVD)
it's only about 3 miles off the interstate.

*edited to clarify that this is in Pennsylvania. (although, the Penn State part might have given that away, I realize not eveyone knows where Bellefonte is.)

The Buckhorn Family Restaurant. It's a Truck stop at Exit 232 at Buckhorn. Huge amounts of food, and there's also a buffet for those so inclined.

It is located on the west side of State Route 42, just to the north of the exit from Interstate 80 -- perhaps 100 yards.

Here are three suggestions for I-80 in Pennsylvania:

Plylers is located in Brookville (Exit 78). When they were in the 1992 Roadfood, they were just a little place that specialized in pizza. Now they are a huge place with a full buffet. Other than the pizza, the food is ordinary, but you can usually get in and out quick and it sits right next to the highway.

Tom's Kitchen is located in Conyngham (Exit 256). It has been seven years since I have been there, but I really liked it. They serve three meals a day and have really good pies and ice cream sundaes. If my memory is correct, it is about 2 miles off of the interstate in town.

Family Diner is located in White Haven (Exit 273). This has been in the Roadfood books for a long time. I have only ever had breakfast here, but this place is really good. It is less than a mile off of the interstate in town.

    I hope this helps!

There used to be a crummy-looking place somewhere in Pa. off of I-80 with a sign you could see from the highway. It was called the "Glad-a-yoo." My mom always joked it should be called the "Glad-a-yoo didn't eat here" restaurant.
