I 95 south in north carolina

will be traveling thru north carolina after driving all night and would love a good country breakfast / diner thats easy off the highway   any suggestions would be great

At Exit 73, in  Dunn, North Carolina is  Triangle Waffle........very good breakfast  and less than a mile of  1-95  and of course, there are Waffle Houses at quite a few exits.

thanks    i  like to stay away from the chains    jsut want a good big breakfast  for me and my family  

Triangle Waffle  is not a chain.  It is a privately owned "hometown" restaurant.

The Summerton Diner seems to have a lot of good reviews.

Triangle Waffle is the hands-down winner if you are anywhere north of Fayetteville and south of Rocky Mount.  But remember their slogan - "Closed on Sunday, Jesus is Lord."  And if you do find yourself in Dunn, be sure to stop in at Sherry's Bakery at "The Sweetest Smelling Corner in Town."  They make the best doughnuts, cakes and fried pies I've ever had.  Actually, they have good breakfasts, too.  My in-laws have moved away from Dunn, but I still get up early on Saturday morning and make the drive to Sherry's.  I couldn't imagine going somewhere else. http://www.sherrysbakery.com/
