I Hate Green Chile Cheeseburgers!

There needs to be a law agains the Bobcat Bite. It is a terrible thing to have eaten a green chile cheeseburger at the Bobcat Bite. I know now that I shall never come across another burger that will compare with the one I had last week at that miserable little place outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ten ounces of absolutely magnificent USDA Choice ground chuck cooked to medium-rare perfection and topped with a slice of perfectly melted cheese and then the chopped, roasted Hatch green chiles. All of it on a most admirable bun that was able to stand up to my frenzied attack upon the absolutely finest burger I've ever eaten in my Methuselahbly long life. I must condemn those who brought green chile cheeseburgers, and especially the Bobcat Bite, to my attention.
 
It was bad enough that I had to partake of this masterful presentation, but to also have the waitress be from Alaska and to be forced to listen as she and my companion in green chile cheeseburgerdom compared notes about that flat land of the five time zones was most unbearable.
 
I vow to never darken the door of that place in the Land of Enchantment ever again. Besides, the architecture around there is boring as Hell.

Yet another positive review about the Bobcat Bite green-chile cheeseburger!  I don't think anyone whom I would listen to has had anything bad to say about it.
 
 

Well the next time I'm in NM I'll need to try their version of the Burger I love. NM Green Chile is the bomb. To think I spent my youth 60 miles to south and never knew about till I found on the On the Road Food site. Always liked Blakes version at various locations about NM. Yet the Holy Grail is the historic Owl Bar out near the Trinity Bomb  site. Also the state tourism office has now created the Great Green Chile  Cheeseburger Road Tou.r

Mr. Hoffman, you didn't seem to be so agitated when WE were enjoying our green chile cheeseburgers if I recall coffectly.  Aha!  If I remember correctly, we both said it was the best, best burger we had ever eaten.

Penn, We were going to stop at Bert's Burger Bowl, which claims to be the originator of green chile cheeseburgers -- it was about a block away from where we were staying -- but time constraints prevented that.

lleechef, I was too busy eating to be agitated.

That interesting in ABQ from 1957- 1976 the local press usually gave credit to the  Owl due to workers at the Trinity site during the War and the post war traffic to the base at White Sands. Yet no matter what the local lore is I still miss those green chile cheese burgers. That is addition  everything else done with New Mexico Chilies no matter if they where grown up north of Santa Fe to all the way down to Las Cruces. In fact Mac Donalds is allowed by the corporation to put Green Chile on their  Burgers in New Mexico. Read the New Mexico road trip reviews a few months ago made me homesick.

I loathe Bobcat Bite as much as Mr. Hoffman.  In fact, I have been to Bobcat Bite more than once to confirm my feelings.  The worst part is that on my last visit to NM around Memorial Day, they were closed for vacation.  Now, I really dislike them!  To vent my anger, I had GCCBs at Bert's Burger Bowl, El Farolito, and D&D Cafe (Eagle Nest, NM).

Bobcat was so unbearably awful that we recently visited for lunch twice in two days. Once in snow flurries. How dare they let snow appear? How dare they have **the** best dang food? How dare they? Wow...those meals were awesome.

If memory serves, didn't you once mention being in New Wilmington, PA for a time?  The Tavern is for sale.  All you need is a liquor licence to make a fortune there!
