That's one way to spell it. You can also spell it shtick. I remember a delicatessen in New Haven years ago had a sign on a basket of small sticks of salami that read:

          A Shtickel A Dime
        Now It Don't Rhyme

By the way, I always loved The World's Greatest Authority.

I took a poll at work.....
You would think there would be a nice cross section of different ages... (ok, maybe not the old folks like here on Roadfood)
Everyone knew who Lindsey Lohan was
No one ever heard of Professor Irwin Corey

Yep, they would remember a scumbag like her but not a great comedic mind like the Professor!
Hell, young people don't even know who Joe Biden is!
Or Bob Hope, or Don Knotts, or Lash LaRue or Clark Gable, or anyone else for that matter!
And they couldn't find Montana on a map either!
Or Fran Tarkington, or Night Train Lane, or Bronco Nagurski or---------

Neither do us middle age people. Yes...middle age.....those who are between 35 and 65 years old- Yes that's the definition of middle age...perhaps its becasuse the people you mentioned are no longer relevant....time marches on....We do know who the Kardashians are !!

Seriously, I know just about everyone you had just mentioned. but there's a point in time that people will forget .
I was talking to my 40 year old boss a couple of months back about visiting Katherine Hepburn's house in Old Saybrook, CT. He had never heard of her.... He had to look her up on the internet. He then remembered her "as an old lady actress"...See, there is hope!

Yeah, people forget but also people today don't bother to learn about things and people that preceded them. Unless things happen in their lifetimes, they don't think it ever happened.
When Jay Leno used to do the "Jaywalking" skit, I was always appalled at how little people knew even about current things.
